Are you an electronics hardware engineer who wants hands-on access to the very newest generation of Intel silicon? Our client has delivered high-performance embedded computing solutions across defence, telecoms, aerospace and more for decades, delivering best-in-class solutions that allow the latest generations of compute power to exist in the harshest of environments. The RoleOnce a product ships, someone owns it for the rest of its life. That's this role. The early product hardware team spend six months to two years taking a product from spec to market; once it's out in the field, you take over. You'll solve the problems production and customers uncover, stay ahead of component obsolescence, and evolve the board to keep it competitive for years to come.It means working on today's most advanced compute technology without the year-or-two design grind to get there. Every product you touch is already proven in the field, so you're solving real problems, not theoretical ones. Your candid feedback and collaborative spirit will help evolve hardware methodologies to keep mission-critical systems at the leading edge. This is a hands-on role with a lot of lab work. You'll be as comfortable with an oscilloscope and logic analyser as you are at a screen, so it's an office-based role, though there is flexibility when life requires, or on the rare occasions when you don’t need access to the products, and the oscilloscope. What You Will Be DoingFull ownership of product redesign, from investigating reported issues through to a verified fixTesting and redesign of existing products post-design: From prototype validation through to production, incorporating customer and production feedbackLead the complete re-design of legacy productsIntegrate the latest market components to extend product lifecyclesCreate and modernise schematics and high-density PCB designs (16–20 layers), and verify layout work for signal integrityTackle component obsolescence, and manage documentationConduct design reviews, troubleshooting, and debugging using oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and environmental test chambersReport on technical progressActively shape hardware development processesWhat We Are Looking For3+ years of professional electronics engineering experience with a strong focus on high-speed digital circuit design and debuggingDegree in a discipline relevant to electronicsA desire to work with high-performance Intel architecture and the newest generation of compute siliconUnderstanding of complex, high-layer-count PCB design well enough to review and verify layout work, including signal integrity considerations such as crosstalkDesirable But Not RequiredA desire to work with PC motherboard architecture (64-bit microprocessors, PCI Express, Ethernet, DDR4 Memory) or Inten chipsetsFPGAsSome understanding of embedded softwareBenefitsUp to 10% employer contribution pension25 days holidays with holiday purchase schemeAnnual bonus / profit shareCycle to work, Home & Tech and car salary sacrifice schemesDeath in service benefit & income protectionWellbeing – Employee assistance / virtual GP / enhanced parental leave / private health insurance / wellbeing apps / paid volunteering days
