Not only will you need excellent understanding and experience of hydraulics systems across the entire machine platform, but you will also need a good understanding of the European market needs, standards and performance requirements.Your role will be crucial in the development of existing excavator machine platforms but will also influence future platform design. You will be working closely with local engineering teams and the wider global R&D organisation.Essential experience:Hydraulic systems development, optimisation and validation for excavator machines destined for the European marketBackground: Senior Hydraulics Systems Engineer This position sits within an established and growing construction machinery OEM and provides the opportunity to influence the design of future Excavator machine platforms.As a Senior Hydraulics Systems Engineer you will act as a technical authority for the hydraulic systems and electro-hydraulic controls that underpin the performance of next-generation excavator platforms.Your focus will be on the development of hydraulic systems, machine behaviour, optimisation and performance, working with engineering teams in Europe and Asia to develop high-performing, efficient and robust hydraulic systems for off-highway construction machinery – specifically Excavator machines.Your Background: Senior Hydraulics Systems EngineerDegree qualified or equivalent in mechanical, mechatronics, hydraulic engineering or similarExcellent engineering experience within the construction machinery sector specifically working on hydraulic systems for excavator machines for construction applications (this is essential and non-negotiable)Strong understanding of hydraulic system engineering and architecture, hydraulic performance and system optimisation (this is development and validation focused)Experience with optimising machine hydraulic performance for the European marketProven experience developing or improving hydraulic systems at machine/system level, rather than solely designing individual hydraulic componentsStrong understanding of pumps, valves, pressure and flow control, hydrostatic systems and hydraulic circuit optimisationGood understanding of the interaction between hydraulic systems, electronic controls, powertrain and machine performanceExcellent English communication skillsYou will be required to travel internationally, occasionally to China, to work with the wider engineering organisation and support prototype development, testing and technical reviews.Typically, this is expected to involve several trips per year, depending on project requirements.This role is based on site in the Hamm area and is commutable from cities such as Dortmund, Münster, Essen, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Bielefeld, Bochum, Duisburg, Wuppertal, and Bonn.
