Our partner is looking for a Senior Instructor, Mariner Academy – Functional Skills based in United States.This is a strategic learning and development role focused on building the practical capabilities financial professionals need to perform at their best. You will own the Functional Skills learning domain, shaping curriculum strategy, content, delivery, assessment, and continuous improvement across multiple financial services disciplines. Working closely with business leaders and subject matter experts, you will translate complex technical knowledge into engaging, practical learning experiences. The role combines instructional expertise, financial services knowledge, facilitation, and competency development. You will help establish consistent capability standards while tailoring learning to the needs of different business areas. including curriculum strategy, design, delivery, evaluation, and continuous improvement across financial services business units.Partner with business-unit leaders and subject matter experts to identify the knowledge, skills, behaviors, judgment, and best practices required for effective job performance.Translate complex technical and functional expertise into practical, engaging learning experiences that connect theory with real-world workplace application.Establish consistent functional skill standards and learning objectives while adapting content to the specific needs of different professional domains.Design and deliver learning using adult learning principles, experiential methods, real-world scenarios, hands-on practice, and structured feedback.Develop scalable training solutions that provide consistent learning experiences while leveraging subject matter expertise across business units.Document and maintain functional skills, processes, and best practices, ensuring training materials reflect evolving business practices, regulations, and evidence-based approaches.Facilitate Functional Skills Capstone courses in both virtual and in-person environments, enabling associates to demonstrate practical application of learned skills.Partner with external trainers and internal business units when additional expertise or training support is needed.Expand the curriculum into additional financial services domains and continuously strengthen the Academy's Functional Skills offering.Use validated skill metrics and competency measures to evaluate learner performance and identify development opportunities.Collaborate with Learning Experience Managers to support individualized development plans for associates who need additional skill development.Identify outdated or unsupported practices and work with subject matter experts and business leaders to promote more current, evidence-based approaches.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, accounting, education, organizational development, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.Relevant professional designation such as CFP®, CFA®, CPA, ChFC®, CLU®, or a comparable industry credential.Professional experience training functional skills within at least one financial services discipline, such as wealth management, financial planning, tax, institutional advising, investment banking, or insurance.Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical knowledge into impactful training, instruction, coaching, or other professional learning experiences.Experience partnering with subject matter experts and business leaders to define role-specific competencies, skill requirements, and performance expectations.Background in designing or delivering learning that connects technical expertise with workplace application, professional judgment, and measurable performance.Experience facilitating learning for adult professionals across in-person, virtual, or blended environments.Strong curriculum design, facilitation, instructional communication, and experiential learning capabilities.Deep practical knowledge in at least one financial services discipline, combined with the ability and curiosity to develop expertise in additional domains.Strong business partnership skills and the confidence to collaborate with senior leaders, subject matter experts, and diverse organizational stakeholders.Ability to simplify complex concepts while maintaining accuracy and professional or regulatory relevance.Strong systems thinking, assessment, measurement, collaboration, and continuous improvement skills.Commitment to evidence-based practices and data-informed decisions about learning effectiveness and business outcomes.Adaptability with technology and AI-enabled tools used in professional learning, assessment, and workflow environments.Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree, formal adult-learning training, experience with large-scale or multi-business-unit learning programs, and expertise in capstone, simulation, or case-based learning.Familiarity with competency frameworks, validated performance measures, evidence-based communication techniques such as Motivational Interviewing, or experience replacing outdated practices with evidence-informed approaches is advantageous.Benefits$105,000–$135,000 annual compensation, with eligibility for bonus or incentive compensation.Compensation may vary based on geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.Potential eligibility for additional compensation and/or benefits depending on role and program eligibility.Full-time, remote work opportunity
