We’re located in beautiful Cherry Creek in Denver, CO, known for being the premier outdoor retail and dining destination as well as for the convenient location next to the Cherry Creek Shopping Center.Who we areAlder Companies is a family led real estate development and investment management company generating meaningful returns and long-term value for our companies, colleagues, and communities.Who we needThe Alder Ventures team is currently searching for a Senior Investment Associate to support the research, evaluation, selection, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of investments across public and private markets, including investment managers, funds, co-investments, and direct investments.Research and communication are central to the role. The Senior Investment Associate will conduct rigorous qualitative and quantitative analysis; synthesize complex information into clear, well-supported conclusions; write investment memoranda, research papers, and portfolio or market commentary; and create polished presentations for internal investment discussions, investment committees, family boards, and other audiences. The role also contributes to portfolio construction, asset allocation, performance evaluation, risk monitoring, and the continued development of a best-in-class investment function. Primary responsibilities will include:Conduct in-depth qualitative and quantitative research and due diligence across public and private investments, including investment managers, funds, co-investments, and direct investments.Analyze investment strategies, organizations, people, processes, portfolios, performance, terms, risks, and potential fit within the overall portfolio.Build and review financial models, valuation analyses, performance comparisons, benchmark analyses, scenario analyses, and other decision-support tools.Develop independent, well-reasoned investment views and make clear recommendations that identify the opportunity, key underwriting assumptions, expected return drivers, downside risks, portfolio role, and outstanding diligence items.Write high-quality investment memoranda, manager research reports, research papers, meeting notes, market commentary, and other written materials that translate complex analysis into concise, decision-useful conclusions.Create and deliver clear, accurate, and visually effective presentations for investment team meetings, investment committees, family boards, and other internal or external audiences.Plan and participate in meetings with investment managers, company management teams, advisors, and other market participants; prepare questions, evaluate responses, document conclusions, and coordinate follow-up diligence.Monitor and continually re-underwrite existing investments by reviewing performance, exposures, attribution, organizational developments, market conditions, and changes to the original thesis; promptly escalate material issues.Research capital markets, economic developments, industries, companies, asset classes, and investment themes, and communicate implications for asset allocation, manager selection, portfolio construction, liquidity, and risk.Assist with investment manager searches, asset allocation studies, portfolio structure reviews, investment policy statements, and implementation recommendations.Contribute to portfolio reporting, benchmarking, valuation review, cashflow and liquidity planning, exposure analysis, and risk monitoring.Collaborate with the Senior Portfolio Manager and other Alder Ventures staff to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and produce consistently high-quality work.Actively build and maintain relationships with investment managers, company management teams, peers, and other members of the investment community.Support the development of junior team members through feedback, knowledge sharing, and review of analytical work, as assigned.What you will bring to the position:The successful candidate will be a collaborative team player with a passion for investing, intellectual curiosity, sound judgement, and a commitment to continuous learning. Bringing a quantitative aptitude and excellent research skills, the Senior Investment Associate also has experience evaluating one or more of the following: private equity, venture capital, private credit, hedge funds, and/or direct investment opportunities. The ability to clearly communicate complex investment topics effectively and build productive relationships will be critical to this role. Top requirements for the position include:Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, business, mathematics, statistics, or a related field.Five or more years of relevant post-degree experience in investment research, investment consulting, performance measurement and analysis, asset management, institutional investing, family office, private markets, or a related field.What we can offer you:Compensation:$160,000 - $215,000 salary range plus a material performance-based bonus.
