Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer - Nutanix Specialist

Role PurposeSenior IT Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for design, implement, operate, and continuously improve resilient enterprise infrastructure services. The role combines hands-on operational ownership with technical leadership for infrastructure projects, ensuring services are secure, available, supportable, and aligned with business requirements and organizational standards.Role Accountabilities1. Infrastructure Operations & Service ReliabilityOwn day-to-day health, availability, performance, and capacity monitoring across Nutanix, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Windows, Linux, storage, backup, virtualization, and Citrix platforms.Proactively investigate alerts, service degradation, and capacity risks; restore services within agreed priorities and coordinate escalation when required.Act as the Tier 3 escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents and lead structured troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and problem-management follow-through.Plan and execute patching, upgrades, maintenance windows, certificate renewals, lifecycle activities, and vulnerability remediation in coordination with security and application teams.Monitor backup jobs, replication, restore readiness, and infrastructure dependencies; address failures and maintain evidence for operational reporting.Participate in the on-call rota and provide support during critical incidents, planned maintenance, and disaster-recovery exercises.2. Project & Change DeliveryLead or contribute as technical subject-matter expert to Nutanix deployments and expansions, container-platform rollouts, data-center migrations, cloud adoption, platform upgrades, and Microsoft 365 initiatives.Translate business, operational, security, and compliance requirements into solution designs, implementation plans, effort estimates, dependencies, and rollout schedules.Prepare and execute test plans, migration runbooks, implementation procedures, validation criteria, and cutover and rollback plans.Own technical workstreams, risks, issues, dependencies, and deliverables; provide concise status updates and escalate decisions or blockers promptly.Coordinate vendors and cross-functional teams, including network, security, applications, service desk, and business stakeholders, to deliver controlled and supportable solutions.Complete post-implementation reviews, operational acceptance, documentation handover, and knowledge transfer.3. Platform Engineering & AdministrationDesign, deploy, and administer Nutanix AOS, AHV, Prism Central and Prism Element, including capacity planning, performance tuning, lifecycle management, cluster expansion, VM provisioning, migration, and troubleshooting.Deploy and operate Kubernetes clusters on Nutanix Kubernetes Engine or an equivalent enterprise platform, including provisioning, upgrades, scaling, platform integration, and infrastructure-level workload support.Administer Azure infrastructure services and Microsoft Entra ID, including identity integration, role-based access, Conditional Access coordination, and hybrid identity through Microsoft Entra Connect.Administer Windows Server, Active Directory Domain Services, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and related core infrastructure services.Manage configuration, patching, software deployment, compliance reporting, and endpoint administration through Microsoft Configuration Manager and Microsoft Intune.Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Intune, Microsoft Defender, and Microsoft Purview within defined operational responsibilities.Install, configure, secure, patch, tune, and automate Linux platforms, including RHEL-compatible distributions and Ubuntu.Administer enterprise storage platforms, including EMC Unity or equivalent, covering provisioning, LUN management, replication, performance monitoring, and incident resolution.Operate Rubrik or equivalent backup and recovery services, including SLA policy management, replication, restore testing, retention controls, and disaster-recovery validation.Administer Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, including application publishing, desktop delivery, StoreFront, Gateway, monitoring, and user-impacting issue resolution.Use PowerShell and shell scripting to automate repeatable tasks, improve control effectiveness, and reduce operational effort.4. Governance, Security & Continuous ImprovementExecute changes in accordance with IT service management, change-control, segregation-of-duties, and security requirements.Apply secure configuration, least-privilege, logging, monitoring, patching, and hardening practices across supported platforms.Maintain accurate architecture records, configuration documents, asset and dependency information, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting runbooks.Define and report operational measures such as service availability, incident trends, capacity, patch compliance, vulnerability remediation, backup success, restore-test results, and lifecycle risks.Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, resilience, cost optimization, and technical-debt reduction; convert approved improvements into deliverable plans.Mentor engineers, conduct peer reviews, and promote consistent engineering and documentation standards.Required Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.At least 10 years of progressive experience in enterprise IT infrastructure engineering, including substantial hands-on operational and project-delivery responsibility.At least 2 to 3 years of direct experience administering Nutanix HCI, including AOS, AHV, and Prism.Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Entra ID, Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and hybrid identity.Hands-on experience with Microsoft Configuration Manager and/or Microsoft Intune for patching, configuration, application deployment, and compliance reporting.Strong Microsoft 365 administration experience across Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Intune, and associated security and compliance services.Practical Linux administration and automation experience using PowerShell and shell scripting.Experience supporting enterprise storage, backup and recovery, virtualization, and Citrix application or desktop delivery platforms.Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex incidents, document technical solutions, and deliver controlled infrastructure changes in an enterprise environment.Working knowledge of networking, storage protocols, identity, security, high availability, business continuity, and disaster recovery.Preferred QualificationsNutanix certification such as NCA, NCP, or NCSE.Microsoft certification such as Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) or Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate (AZ-800/AZ-801).Rubrik, Citrix, and Linux certifications such as RCSA/RCSE, CCA-V, RHCSA, and RHCE.PMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or comparable project-delivery certification.ITIL Foundation or practical experience with incident, problem, change, configuration, and service-level management.Experience with SAN/NAS platforms and Fibre Channel or iSCSI switching.Hands-on experience with ManageEngine products such as ADManager Plus, ADAudit Plus, OpManager, PAM360, Endpoint Central, or ServiceDesk Plus.About us:Omnix International is a Sharia’a compliant company with 35+years of presence in the market.
