Senior IT Systems & Software Engineer

We are looking for a Senior IT Systems & Software Engineer to manage IT infrastructure and develop software solutions across multiple businesses and applications. This is a full-time, on-site position in Al Mamzar, Sharjah. The role requires hands-on capability in IT administration, software development, Odoo, and AI automation.

Key Responsibilities

IT Infrastructure & Support: - Manage servers, networks, computers, printers, and daily IT support. - Administer Windows/Linux systems, user accounts, shared folders, and access permissions. - Configure and maintain Sophos firewalls, endpoint protection, VPNs, and network security. - Manage Microsoft 365, company email accounts, domains, and email security. - Maintain NAS storage, Nextcloud, backups, and recovery procedures, including restoration testing. - Monitor system performance, troubleshoot faults, and document technical configurations. Software Development & Applications: - Analyse business requirements and develop internal applications, workflows, dashboards, and reports. - Implement and customise Odoo, including developing and maintaining custom modules. - Build internal systems and ERP components based on business needs. - Maintain and enhance existing applications. - Develop backend services and APIs supporting web and mobile applications. - Integrate systems with payment gateways, communication platforms, and external services. - Manage databases and source code using Git, test changes, and deploy updates securely. AI & Automation: - Implement AI integrations and automation to improve business operations. - Build workflows using n8n or similar tools and integrate AI models through Ollama or comparable platforms. - Automate document processing, data extraction, reporting, and system updates. - Apply data validation, error handling, and appropriate security controls. Required Qualifications & Experience: - 6–8 years of relevant professional experience, with proven hands-on expertise in both IT infrastructure management and software development. - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. - Strong knowledge of servers, networking, Windows/Linux, VPNs, Microsoft 365, and backup and recovery procedures. - Practical experience configuring and managing Sophos firewalls and security solutions. - Proven Odoo development experience, including custom modules and system integrations. - Strong Python programming skills and working knowledge of JavaScript, XML, PostgreSQL, REST APIs, and Git. - Experience maintaining existing applications, troubleshooting code, and integrating external services. - Practical experience implementing AI integrations or business process automation. - Ability to independently analyse requirements, develop solutions, test changes, and manage deployment. - Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and prioritisation skills. Preferred: - Experience with Django and Flutter to support the BellMeals backend and mobile application. - Experience with Google Cloud and application hosting. - Experience with Odoo Community Edition, particularly version 19. - Familiarity with Synology NAS, Nextcloud, and virtualisation. - Experience with n8n, Ollama, and locally hosted AI solutions. - Experience with payment gateway integrations. - UAE work experience and a valid UAE driving licence. - Relevant Sophos, Microsoft, Odoo, or networking certifications. Applicants must demonstrate practical experience in infrastructure AND programming. Odoo end-user experience alone is insufficient.
