In this role, you will be a key individual contributor responsible for designing, developing, and owning critical backend services and components. You will work alongside senior architects and leads to build high-performance, reliable systems while demonstrating technical ownership, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to engineering best practices.This is an individual contributor role with technical influence – you’ll be expected to independently drive feature delivery, make sound design decisions, and raise the bar for engineering quality.Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java-based backend services, APIs, and data pipelines.
- Own feature delivery end-to-end – from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
- Build and optimize microservices using Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and event-driven architectures.
- Write clean, well-tested, production-ready code following SOLID principles and design patterns.
- Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and frontend engineers to define and deliver product requirements.
- Participate actively in architecture discussions, design reviews, and sprint planning.
- Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive, actionable feedback to peers.
- Mentor junior engineers (L1/L2) through pairing sessions, knowledge transfers, andtechnical guidance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues; improve system observability, performance, and reliability.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements and DevOps best practices.
- Stay current with industry trends, evaluate new tools/frameworks, and recommend adoption where appropriate.
- Write and maintain technical documentation for systems, APIs, and runbooks.Must-Have Qualifications
- 5–8 years of professional Java backend development experience (Java 11 / 17 / 21).
- Strong expertise in Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, and Hibernate/JPA.
- Solid experience designing and building RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
- Proficiency with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) – query optimization, indexing, schema design.
- Working knowledge of NoSQL databases (Redis, MongoDB, or Cassandra).
- Hands-on experience with messaging systems – Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, or ActiveMQ.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
- Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
- Experience writing unit tests, integration tests, and practicing TDD (JUnit 5, Mockito, TestContainers).
- Good understanding of concurrency, multithreading, and JVM internals.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in an Agile/Scrum environment.Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience in financial services, fintech, or capital markets domain.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms – AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, SQS, RDS) or GCP.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Experience with GraphQL or gRPC APIs.
- Exposure to reactive programming – Project Reactor or RxJava.
- Familiarity with observability tools – Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Datadog.
- Experience with Kotlin or Python as a secondary language.
