Senior / Lead Software Engineer – AIRAG | LLMs | Agentic AI | Production AI SystemsWe’re working with a global technology organisation that is investing heavily in AI to transform how professionals investigate, analyse and make decisions from complex data.The team is building an AI-driven investigative platform used to search and analyse billions of public and proprietary records, helping customers identify people, companies, relationships, risks and other critical information. Having already introduced AI agents into the platform, the team is now expanding its capabilities across RAG, LLMs, document intelligence and agentic workflows.We’re looking for both Senior and Lead Software Engineers – AI to help drive this next stage of development.The OpportunityThis is a genuine AI engineering role — not a pure research position and not simply prompt engineering.You’ll sit at the intersection of software engineering and applied AI, building production systems that combine traditional backend engineering with RAG, LLMs and agentic capabilities.You could be working on:Building and evolving RAG pipelines, including document ingestion, chunking, retrieval and contextualisationDeveloping LLM-powered agents and multi-step workflowsIntegrating AI capabilities into production APIs, services and applicationsImproving retrieval quality, AI performance, latency and LLM/token costsDesigning and evaluating approaches for working with large and complex datasetsWorking closely with AI specialists and engineering teams to take ideas from experimentation into robust production systemsHelping engineers across the wider team develop their understanding of RAG and modern AI engineeringSenior Software Engineer – AIThe Senior role is highly hands-on and suited to someone who is a strong software engineer with genuine experience building production RAG/LLM applications.You’ll contribute directly to the architecture and development of AI features while continuing to work across backend services, APIs and wider application engineering.We’re particularly interested in engineers who can bridge the gap between traditional software engineering and modern GenAI, rather than someone whose experience is purely theoretical or research-focused.Lead Software Engineer – AIThe Lead role carries additional technical ownership and leadership responsibility.You’ll help shape the team's approach to RAG and LLM architecture, solve challenges around retrieval quality and LLM efficiency, and help evolve the platform towards a more agentic model.You’ll also mentor engineers who are developing their AI capabilities, influence technical direction and work with senior stakeholders to turn emerging AI capabilities into scalable production solutions.What We’re Looking ForAcross both levels, we're looking for:Strong software engineering experience with a track record of building production systemsHands-on experience with RAG and LLM-based applicationsUnderstanding of retrieval, embeddings, semantic search, document chunking and contextualisationExperience building APIs, backend services and/or distributed systemsExperience taking AI solutions through development, evaluation and production deploymentPractical experience with agentic AI, AI APIs or LLM orchestration is highly relevantStrong programming ability — the team is less concerned about a particular language than genuine engineering capabilityCloud experience and modern deployment practices; AWS is useful but experience with other major cloud platforms is also relevantFor the Lead position, we’re additionally looking for experience with technical leadership, mentoring, architecture and communicating effectively with senior stakeholders.Why Join?This is an opportunity to join the team at a particularly interesting point in its AI journey.
