The Faculty is expanding its academic and research capabilities in areas including aerodynamics, aerospace structures, propulsion, flight mechanics and control, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), avionics, aircraft design, and emerging aerospace technologies.Role DescriptionThe Senior Lecturer – Aerospace Engineering is a full-time, on-site academic position based at i-CATS University College, Kuching, Sarawak.The successful candidate will contribute primarily to the teaching and development of the Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering with Honours programme. Responsibilities include preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, laboratory activities, and project-based learning; developing and reviewing course materials; assessing student learning through coursework and examinations; and supervising undergraduate projects.The Senior Lecturer will also contribute to curriculum development, programme review, academic quality assurance, accreditation activities, and continuous improvement of teaching and learning. The role includes participation in research, scholarly publications, grant applications, student supervision, laboratory development, academic committees, and engagement with industry and professional bodies.The successful candidate is expected to contribute actively to the continued growth of the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering and to support the development of a strong teaching, research, innovation, and industry-engagement ecosystem.QualificationsPhD in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline from a recognized institution.Relevant academic background in one or more aerospace engineering areas, such as aerodynamics, flight mechanics and control, aerospace structures, propulsion, aircraft design, UAV systems, avionics, computational methods, or related fields.Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate aerospace engineering courses effectively, including lectures, tutorials, laboratory sessions, and project-based learning.Experience in curriculum development, assessment, academic quality assurance, or programme accreditation would be an advantage.Strong research capability with evidence of peer-reviewed publications, research projects, grant participation, or postgraduate/undergraduate research supervision.Ability to develop research activities and contribute to the Faculty's research profile in aerospace engineering and emerging aviation technologies.Experience with engineering laboratories, simulation, computational tools, experimental methods, or aerospace-related software is highly desirable.Experience collaborating with aerospace/aviation industries, government agencies, universities, or professional engineering and technology bodies would be an advantage.Excellent communication, teaching, mentoring, teamwork, and academic leadership skills.Commitment to student-centred education, academic integrity, continuous improvement, and the development of industry-ready engineering graduates.Professional registration or membership with relevant engineering or technology professional bodies would be an added advantage.Preferred Candidate ProfilePreference may be given to candidates who can contribute to multiple areas of the aerospace engineering curriculum and who demonstrate a strong combination of teaching capability, research potential, laboratory development, industry engagement, and academic leadership.Candidates with expertise in emerging areas such as unmanned aerial systems (UAS/UAV), autonomous flight, advanced air mobility, computational aerodynamics, artificial intelligence for aerospace applications, digital engineering, or advanced aerospace systems are particularly encouraged to apply.
