The institution offers opportunities for educators and researchers who wish to support community-oriented teaching, research, and service.Role Description The Senior Lecturer role is a full-time, on-site academic position based at Gambella University in the Gambela Region, Ethiopia. The Senior Lecturer will design and deliver undergraduate and, where applicable, postgraduate courses, develop syllabi and teaching materials, and facilitate lectures, seminars, and practical sessions. Daily responsibilities include mentoring and advising students, supervising projects or theses, assessing student performance, and providing timely, constructive feedback. The role also involves conducting and publishing research, participating in curriculum development, and contributing to departmental and university committees and initiatives. The Senior Lecturer is expected to engage in community and outreach activities aligned with the University’s mission and support the continuous improvement of academic standards.Qualifications Advanced academic qualification (typically a Master’s degree or PhD) in a relevant discipline, such as Agricultural Sciences, Natural Resource Management, Education, Social Sciences, or a related field.Demonstrated university-level teaching experience, including course design, classroom instruction, student assessment, and academic advising.Active research profile with evidence of scholarly publications, participation in conferences, and engagement in academic or applied research projects.Strong pedagogical skills, including the ability to use diverse teaching methods, integrate practical and community-based learning, and support learners from varied backgrounds.Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work collegially within multidisciplinary teams and contribute to departmental and institutional development.Experience or interest in working in emerging or regional universities, with adaptability to resource-constrained environments and a commitment to capacity building.Proficiency in English; knowledge of local languages or willingness to learn is an asset.Commitment to ethical conduct, inclusive education, and the principles of gender equality and non-discrimination.
