Senior Lecturer- General Education

The General Education Unit invites applications for a faculty position at the Lecturer/Senior Lecturer rank. Candidates should have a Master’s degree (no EdDs/PhDs) in a relevant science or engineering discipline, together with a minimum of five years of related teaching experience at a recognized, top-tier institution. Experience teaching in the UAE as well as experience in materials development, course coordination, and assessment development are also valued.Required Experience:Strong, multi-disciplinary background in science and/or engineeringExperience supervising student projects and leading student teamsHands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: sustainability, biomedical science, environmental sciences, research methodology, social research, and related fieldsStrong soft skills and IT skillsExperience using Excel, Blackboard, and CATME preferredCandidates for lecturer level positions must have a minimum of five years of relevant experience, and candidates for Senior Lecturer must have a minimum of eight years of relevant experience.The post holder will teach the GENS 101 Grand Challenges course, which highlights science and engineering approaches to interdisciplinary, real-world applications, especially addressing Grand Challenge problems facing humanity. The course introduces aspects of problem solving, from the formulation of questions and problems to the testing of hypotheses and trial solutions. Students work collaboratively on project-based activities as they discuss ethical issues; social, economic, and environmental aspects of sustainability; and the technicalities of Grand Challenges. There is no expectation that independent research will be conducted, although an interest in developing and applying recent research will be an advantageRequired Qualifications:A minimum of 8 years of experience relevant to the position.Master’s degree in a related discipline from an accredited institution
