Employment Type: Full-timeIndustry: Technology / Online MarketplaceFunction: Legal / Commercial Law / PartnershipsAbout the RoleA leading global online marketplace is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to provide senior-level legal support across complex partnership matters in Germany.The role will focus on strategic commercial negotiations, complex disputes, risk management and legal advisory, while working closely with senior commercial stakeholders and central legal, compliance and public affairs teams.Key ResponsibilitiesLead legal support for complex partnership matters across the German market, including strategic negotiations, escalations and sensitive commercial issues.Advise senior commercial stakeholders on contract strategy, risk allocation and negotiation positions for significant partner arrangements.Manage complex disputes and regulatory-related commercial matters with material financial or reputational exposure.Establish practical legal guardrails for the German market and strengthen consistent use of templates and central legal standards.Coach and support junior legal colleagues, helping to develop local legal capability and commercial awareness.Collaborate with central Partnerships, Compliance and Public Affairs teams where German market matters require broader alignment.Support major local business initiatives and ensure material legal matters are escalated with clear recommendations and appropriate risk framing.Provide practical, commercially focused legal advice to support strategic decision-making.RequirementsQualified lawyer with strong experience in commercial contracts, strategic negotiations and complex legal advisory.Fluent in German with a strong understanding of the German legal and commercial environment.Experience handling legal escalations, disputes and non-standard risk positions with limited supervision.Strong judgement, drafting and stakeholder management skills.Ability to communicate effectively with senior business stakeholders.Experience coaching or mentoring junior legal professionals.Strong commercial awareness and ability to balance legal risk with business objectives.PreferredExperience in a marketplace, consumer technology or technology-enabled business.Experience working in a fast-paced, international environment.Exposure to partnerships, platform businesses or other commercially complex arrangements.
