Senior Machine Learning Scientist/Engineer

About the RoleVesselFront is looking for a highly skilled Senior Machine Learning Scientist/Engineer to join our growing, research-driven AI team. This role combines advanced machine learning research with the design, development, and deployment of production-ready AI solutions. The ideal candidate has a strong academic or research background, excellent programming capabilities, and hands-on experience building robust machine learning systems for complex, real-world applications. You will work closely with data scientists, researchers, software engineers, and domain experts to develop innovative AI solutions that can directly influence critical maritime operations worldwide. Key Responsibilities· Conduct applied research and development in machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligence.· Design, train, evaluate, and deploy robust machine learning models and neural network architectures.· Develop AI solutions for use cases such as prediction, classification, optimization, and natural language processing. · Perform exploratory data analysis on complex and large-scale datasets to identify patterns, anomalies, and actionable insights. · Handle data extraction, transformation, preprocessing, feature engineering, and quality assurance.· Translate research findings and experimental models into scalable, production-ready systems.· Collaborate with software engineers and other cross-functional teams to integrate machine learning solutions into production environments.· Optimize model accuracy, scalability, training performance, and inference efficiency. · Design and maintain reproducible experimentation, evaluation, and model-monitoring workflows.· Contribute to the continuous improvement of the company’s machine learning infrastructure, tooling, and development processes.· Present technical findings, methodologies, and results clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.· Stay informed about the latest developments in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and related research areas.Required Qualifications· At least 5 years of professional experience in machine learning, applied AI, data science, or a related field.· Strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with additional languages such as C++.·  Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.· Deep understanding of machine learning, deep learning, neural networks, supervised and unsupervised learning, feature engineering, and model evaluation.· Strong exploratory data analysis, statistical analysis, and data visualization skills.· Experience working with complex, large-scale, or heterogenous datasets.· Ability to design experiments, evaluate model performance, and communicate findings clearly.· Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.· Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.· Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.Desirable Qualifications· PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Data Science, or a closely related field.· Strong academic or applied research background, including publications in relevant scientific conferences or journals.· Understanding of symbolic AI, knowledge representation, reasoning systems, or neurosymbolic AI.· Experience with transformer-based architectures and large language models. · Hands-on experience with spatio-temporal, geospatial, maritime, or time-series data.· Familiarity with MLOps technologies and practices, including MLflow, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloude, or Microsoft Azure.· Experience developing scalable model-training and inference pipelines.· Experience with GPU acceleration, distributed training, and performance optimization.· Experience deploying and monitoring machine learning models in production.· Contribution to open-source machine learning or artificial intelligence projects.What We Offer· The opportunity to work on challenging, real-world artificial intelligence problems.· Participation in-cutting-edge research and applied AI projects.·  The opportunity to directly influence critical maritime operations worldwide.·  A competitive compensation package.·  Professional development and career-growth opportunities.·  A collaborative, innovative, and learning-focuses working environment.· The opportunity to influence the technical direction of our AI products, infrastructure, and research activities.About VesselFrontVesselFront develops advanced artificial intelligence solutions for the maritime industry, combining machine learning, domain expertise, and operational data to address complex challenges in vessel performance, voyage optimization, and maritime decision-making.
