Apply & track with Apply EdgeAbout the OpportunityOur client, an established advisory and outsourced finance firm serving both private wealth clients and organizations across the nonprofit, SaaS/emerging tech, and middle-market sectors, is seeking a Senior Manager to join its strategic and transformative advisory practice. This is a ground-floor opportunity to help build out a growing practice alongside an experienced practice leader, managing a small team while advising client finance leaders and boards on strategic initiatives, GAAP assessments, ERP evaluations, and finance transformation projects. The role blends hands-on technical delivery with client-facing leadership and offers strong visibility and growth potential as the practice scales. This role requires three days per week in-office, with occasional travel as client needs require.Job ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with practice leadership to deliver recurring strategic financial guidance to client finance leaders, boards, and decision-makersDiagnose client issues and present solutions, positioning the firm as a trusted, ongoing advisory partnerPrepare board- and executive-level updates on results, risks, and progressOversee in-house, client, and outsourced accounting teams as project scope requiresDeliver financial, accounting, and compliance projects for nonprofit, SaaS/emerging tech, and PE-backed middle-market clientsLead consulting project planning and delivery, including process improvement, operational assessments, compliance, and financial reportingLead functional delivery across general ledger, close, reporting, controls, and data architectureDraft, improve, and document accounting and finance policies and procedures; review internal controls and data frameworksSupport end-to-end digital finance transformations, including current-state assessment, future-state roadmap design, system selection, and vendor evaluation, with particular focus on ERP and general ledger transitionsProvide accounting subject-matter expertise during implementation, configuration, testing, and post-go-live optimizationOwn project governance, including scope, workplans, milestones, and risk management; manage cross-functional teams and third-party vendorsServe as primary engagement lead, managing client relationships, executive communications, and workshopsMentor and develop junior team members; drive adoption of delivery standards and best practicesSupport business development activities, including solution design, scoping, and proposalsJob RequirementsOpen to candidates at the Manager, Senior Manager, or Director levelMust currently come from a strategic/transformative advisory, CFO advisory, client advisory services, or client accounting advisory services group within a middle-market advisory or consulting firm — candidates must be coming out of a service organizationMust have led/run client engagements directly, not solely supported themClient base must be in the $40M–$400M revenue range and non-regulated, non-financial-servicesDirect experience with ERP and general ledger system transitions/implementations required (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Enterprise, Dynamics 365 Finance, Workday)Nonprofit, PE-backed portfolio company, SaaS, or other commercial business client experience is a strong plus7+ years of experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory capacityStrong working knowledge of the close process, with hands-on experience in one or more of: close/controls platforms (e.g., BlackLine, FloQast, Trintech), P2P/spend platforms (e.g., Bill.com, Tipalti, Ramp), CRM systems, or treasury/bank integrationsCPA or equivalent finance credential preferredExperience leading full-scale digital transformations for middle-market organizations, and vendor/systems integrator management experience, both a plusThe annual total compensation is up to $225k. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
