Senior Manager, Regulatory Control

Position OverviewThe Senior Manager, Regulatory Control is responsible for leading and developing the Regulatory Control function and ensuring the Company maintains the highest standards of import, export, Customs and other applicable regulatory compliance across the region.This role provides leadership over the Regulatory Control team and serves as a senior subject matter expert and primary point of contact for internal stakeholders, external partners and, where required, government agencies on matters relating to trade compliance and regulatory requirements.The Senior Manager will maintain a strong working knowledge of Customs regulations and other governmental laws affecting the Company's operations, oversee the development and maintenance of compliance policies and procedures, monitor regulatory risk, and lead initiatives to improve compliance, operational efficiency and cost effectiveness.Key Responsibilities1. Regulatory Leadership & Compliance• Lead the Regulatory Control team and oversee Regional import/export compliance activities. • Maintain strong knowledge of Customs regulations and other governmental requirements affecting the business. • Monitor regulatory changes and update Company policies, procedures and practices accordingly. • Ensure accurate commodity classification under applicable import and export regulations. • Serve as the primary internal point of contact on the interpretation of regulatory requirements and trade compliance policies. • Liaise with external partners, consultants and government agencies where required. • Build and promote a strong compliance culture across the organization.2. Team Leadership & Development• Lead, develop and manage the Regulatory Manager and Regulatory Control team. • Set priorities, allocate work and provide day-to-day direction on workload and resource requirements. • Recruit, develop and retain a capable and effective team. • Identify training needs and develop relevant technical and systems training. • Set individual and team objectives, conduct annual appraisals and provide regular coaching and feedback. • Support the Regulatory Manager in managing operational import/export team members as required. 3. Policies, Controls & Risk• Develop and maintain Regional compliance policies, procedures and SOPs. • Oversee processes for obtaining and maintaining import/export licenses, permits, agreements and certifications. • Conduct self-assessment audits and monitor compliance controls to identify risks and process weaknesses. • Develop and implement corrective actions to address identified compliance risks. • Monitor and report trends, areas of concern and opportunities for improvement.4. Strategic Projects & Process Improvement• Lead Regulatory Control workstreams on significant business and strategic projects, including bonded warehouse requirements, warehouse relocations and other regulatory initiatives. • Drive process transformation projects to improve efficiency, strengthen compliance and reduce costs. • Lead improvement initiatives relating to Aged Entries, import/export processes, GTK, ACE and other relevant systems and processes. • Ensure regulatory requirements are appropriately incorporated into business changes and new initiatives.5. Specialized Regulatory Programs• Work with the Regulatory Manager and relevant stakeholders to maintain and renew CTPAT accreditation, including the Annual Security Profile. • Manage the Food Supplier Verification Program, including relationships with FSVP consultants, the FDA and internal Food Planning and Merchandising teams. • Provide oversight and support for other regulatory requirements, including FDA, CITES/Fish & Wildlife and other applicable government programs.6. Reporting & Administration• Develop and maintain key Regulatory Control reports and metrics. • Report on compliance performance, trends, risks and improvement opportunities. • Monitor key import/export performance indicators, including aging and exceptions. • Manage Regulatory Control-related invoices and payments through Coupa, investigating and challenging charges where appropriate. Required Experience• Significant experience in Customs, import/export, trade compliance or regulatory control. • Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs and other relevant government regulations. • Proven experience leading and developing teams. • Experience managing compliance policies, audits, risk assessments and corrective actions. • Experience leading cross-functional projects and process improvement initiatives. • Strong stakeholder management, communication and problem-solving skills. • Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into practical business processes.Preferred Experience• Experience in duty-free, travel retail, retail, logistics or bonded warehouse operations. • Experience with CTPAT, FDA/FSVP, CITES or Fish & Wildlife requirements. Benefits Day One Health Benefits401k Plan ContributionsPaid Time OffPaid HolidaysParking ReimbursementEmployee Discounts Compensation The salary range for this position is $110,000-$120,000. Placement within this range will be based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity. This role is eligible for an annual bonus program.
