With a mission to redefine digital transformation, we combine sovereign capabilities with scalable, high-performance compute infrastructure, positioning itself at the forefront of AI innovation in the Middle East and beyond.Role The Senior Manager – Storage & Data Protection Engineering is responsible for leading teams of storage engineers and systems architects responsible for the design, architecture, deployment, operation, and continuous evolution of cloud-scale and distributed storage and data protection platforms.The role requires deep hands-on engineering expertise in storage and data protection technologies, combined with strong leadership and people management capabilities. The Senior Manager acts as a player-coach, providing technical leadership, architectural guidance, mentoring, and strategic direction while maintaining active involvement in complex engineering initiatives, solution design reviews, production escalations, and technology decisions.Responsibilities Lead and develop teams of storage engineers and systems architects, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, collaboration, mentorship, accountability, and continuous professional growth.Act as the primary technical authority for Storage and Data Protection technologies, providing architectural guidance, design reviews, engineering oversight, and technology recommendations while maintaining hands-on involvement in complex engineering activities, architecture reviews, production escalations, and critical technical decisions.Take ownership of the quality, scalability, resilience, security, and operational readiness of technical solutions, engineering deliverables, and documentation produced by the team.Oversee the architecture, deployment, operation, and lifecycle management of cloud-scale and distributed storage, backup, disaster recovery, cyber recovery, and data protection platforms supporting Cloud Services.Establish and govern engineering standards, operational best practices, automation frameworks, and compliance processes aligned with security, risk management, regulatory, and operational requirements.Plan, execute, and oversee storage and data protection projects while collaborating with cross-functional engineering, architecture, security, platform, and operations teams to ensure successful delivery.Participate in Architecture Review Boards, engineering governance forums, and strategic technology discussions, providing recommendations that align with organizational standards and architecture roadmaps.Lead technology evaluations, vendor engagements, roadmap discussions, and technical escalations with storage and data protection vendors and strategic partners.Act as a senior escalation point for critical production incidents, complex technical issues, major outages, and customer-impacting events, providing technical leadership during incident response and root cause analysis activities.Provide leadership with insights, recommendations, technology roadmaps, and investment guidance for storage and data protection platform modernization and optimization.Continuously evaluate emerging storage, AI infrastructure, cyber-resiliency, and data protection technologies, recommending innovations that improve service quality, efficiency, and scalability.Qualification, Experience, Competence and Certifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technology discipline.12+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, operating, and evolving large-scale storage, data protection, backup, disaster recovery, or infrastructure platforms.3+ years of experience leading engineering teams responsible for storage, data protection, or infrastructure services, including direct management of engineers and systems architects.Proven track record as a hands-on engineering leader with deep technical expertise in storage and data protection technologies. Deep hands-on expertise with distributed and cloud-scale storage platforms, including enterprise NAS, SAN, Object Storage, software-defined storage, and high-performance storage architectures.Proven experience designing and operating storage and data protection platforms supporting Cloud, AI, HPC, Kubernetes, virtualization, and mission-critical enterprise workloads.Strong understanding of storage performance engineering, capacity planning, scalability, resilience, multi-tenancy, and operational lifecycle management.Strong knowledge of Linux, virtualization, cloud infrastructure, automation, observability, and platform engineering practices.Experience driving infrastructure automation, Infrastructure as Code, operational tooling, and engineering standardization initiatives.Experience supporting mission-critical production environments and acting as a senior technical escalation point for major incidents, outages, and complex operational challenges.Ability to provide architectural leadership, conduct technical reviews, mentor engineers and systems architects, and drive technical decision-making across multiple programs and teams.Strong understanding of security, compliance, data governance, risk management, cyber recovery, and operational resilience requirements.Strong understanding of security, compliance, data governance, risk management, cyber recovery, and operational resilience requirements.Experience managing strategic vendor relationships, technology evaluations, technical escalations, and roadmap discussions.Strong analytical, leadership, communication, stakeholder management, mentoring, and problem-solving skills.Relevant certifications in Storage, Data Protection, Cloud, Linux, Kubernetes, ITIL, or related technologies are advantageous.What working at Core42 offersWith a diverse team of 1,100+ employees from 68 nationalities, we foster an inclusive, innovative and collaborative environment.
