Senior Marine Service Engineer

The company maintains a growing international service network covering Singapore, China, India, Dubai, Turkey, Denmark, Greece, Brazil, the US, and other locations.Key Responsibilities / Job ScopeIndependently lead and execute inspection, troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of 2-stroke and 4-stroke marine diesel engines onboard vessels, at shipyards, anchorages, and workshops.Take overall responsibility for assigned service jobs, including job preparation, manpower coordination, technical execution, progress monitoring, testing, and job completion.Perform and supervise routine and major engine overhauls, including pistons, cylinder covers, cylinder liners, bearings, connecting rods, fuel pumps, and other major engine components.Lead engine docking, breakdown repair, emergency attendance, voyage repair, riding crew and on-site/in-situ repair projects.Diagnose complex engine faults and carry out troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including HPS, FIVA and related engine control components where applicable.Participate in and lead specialised repair and modification projects involving crankshafts, camshafts and other major engine components, according to project requirements.Conduct technical inspections, measurements, condition assessments and functional tests; identify root causes of failures and recommend appropriate corrective or preventive actions.Review technical information, drawings, manuals, service history and operating conditions to determine suitable repair methods, work scope, manpower and technical requirements.Provide technical guidance and on-site supervision to Marine Service Engineers, junior engineers, technicians and fitters, ensuring work is carried out correctly and efficiently.Coordinate directly with customers, vessel crew, shipyard personnel, subcontractors and internal departments regarding technical matters, work progress and job requirements.Ensure all assigned work is carried out in accordance with company procedures, customer requirements and applicable safety requirements.Monitor job quality and workmanship, conduct final inspections and functional checks, and ensure the equipment is properly restored before handover.Prepare and review service reports, inspection findings, measurement records and technical recommendations, ensuring accurate and professional documentation.Provide technical feedback to the Operations and Technical teams regarding recurring faults, repair findings and opportunities for service improvement.Support emergency service attendance and technical troubleshooting, including remote technical assistance where required.Be prepared for local and overseas assignments, including flexible working hours, overtime, weekends/public holidays and emergency attendance according to vessel and project schedules.RequirementsDiploma or Degree in Marine & Offshore Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.Preferably 5 years or more of relevant hands-on experience in marine diesel engine servicing, maintenance, repair, overhaul, and troubleshooting.Strong practical experience with 2-stroke and/or 4-stroke marine diesel engines and major engine components.Demonstrated ability to manage and complete marine service jobs independently, from initial inspection and troubleshooting through repair, testing, and final reporting.Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to identify root causes of technical problems and determine appropriate repair solutions.Good knowledge of engine mechanical systems; experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, HPS, FIVA, and related engine control systems will be an advantage.Experience in major engine overhaul, docking repair, breakdown repair, in-situ repair or specialised engine component repair will be highly advantageous.Able to read and interpret technical drawings, engine manuals, specifications, measurement records and service documentation.Demonstrated ability to lead and guide engineers, technicians and fitters during service projects.Strong planning and coordination skills, with the ability to manage manpower, job priorities, schedules and changing site conditions.Able to communicate professionally with customers, vessel crew, shipyard personnel and internal teams, including providing clear technical explanations and recommendations.Able to prepare clear and professional service reports, technical findings and repair recommendations in English.Safety-conscious, responsible, hands-on and capable of making sound technical decisions under pressure.Able to work independently as well as lead and collaborate with a service team.Willing to work onboard vessels and in shipyards, anchorages and workshop environments.Willing to work flexible hours and overtime according to vessel schedules, project requirements, and emergency service needs.Willing to undertake local and overseas assignments when required.
