Apply & track with Apply EdgeSenior Market Surveillance Specialist (m/f/d)Location: Vienna, AustriaFor our client, an internationally growing financial services and digital assets company, we are looking for an experienced Senior Market Surveillance Specialist (m/f/d) to join its European compliance function.In this role, you will focus on the monitoring and investigation of trading activity across financial markets, with particular attention to market abuse, suspicious trading patterns and regulatory requirements under MAR and MiFID II.You will work closely with Compliance, Legal, Risk, Product and other international stakeholders and contribute to the further development of the company’s market surveillance framework in Europe.Your ResponsibilitiesMonitor trading activity and identify potentially suspicious or abusive market behaviourReview and investigate alerts related to market manipulation, insider dealing and other forms of market abuseAnalyse trading patterns, order activity and transaction dataSupport the development and enhancement of market surveillance controls, scenarios and escalation processesDocument investigations and prepare clear case assessments and internal reportsContribute to the preparation and handling of suspicious transaction and order reports where requiredSupport the implementation of regulatory requirements under MAR, MiFID II and related European capital markets regulationWork closely with Compliance, Legal, Risk and relevant business functionsMonitor regulatory developments related to market conduct and market abuseSupport the continuous improvement of surveillance processes, controls and internal proceduresYour ProfileSeveral years of relevant professional experience in Market Surveillance, Trade Surveillance, Market Abuse, Trading Compliance or Capital Markets ComplianceStrong understanding of MAR, MiFID II and market abuse regulationExperience investigating suspicious trading behaviour such as spoofing, layering, wash trading, insider dealing or other manipulative practicesGood understanding of trading environments, order flows and financial market structuresExperience working with market surveillance tools, trading data or transaction monitoring systemsStrong analytical skills and the ability to assess complex trading patternsExperience with Excel is expected; knowledge of SQL, Python or other data analysis tools is an advantageStructured and detail-oriented approach to investigations and documentationAbility to communicate findings clearly to Compliance and senior stakeholdersFluent English is requiredGerman is an advantage but not mandatoryWhat You Can ExpectA key role within a growing European compliance organisationThe opportunity to help shape and further develop market surveillance processesExposure to an international and fast-moving financial services environmentClose cooperation with international stakeholders across Compliance, Legal, Risk and ProductModern office environment in ViennaStrong professional development opportunitiesAn international working environment with significant growth potentialIf you have a strong background in market surveillance and market abuse regulation and would like to contribute to the development of a growing European financial services platform, we look forward to a confidential conversation.
