Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

SENIOR MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER - EAST FLANDERS (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITIONWe're currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in machine design to take ownership of the mechanical development of complex machinery and equipment.You will be involved throughout the design process, from concept development and detailed engineering through to prototyping, testing and production.The role combines hands-on mechanical design with technical ownership, requiring someone who can translate functional requirements into robust, manufacturable machine designs.You will work closely with engineers across mechanical, electrical and controls disciplines to develop reliable solutions that meet performance, quality and cost requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the mechanical design and development of machines, assemblies and components.Develop concepts, layouts and detailed 3D CAD designs, including drawings and technical documentation.Make key engineering decisions around materials, mechanisms, tolerances and manufacturability.Work closely with electrical, controls and other engineering teams to deliver integrated machine solutions.Support prototyping, testing, commissioning and design validation.Identify and resolve mechanical design issues throughout the development process.Provide technical guidance to less experienced mechanical engineers.Work with suppliers and manufacturing teams to ensure designs can be produced efficiently and to the required standards.Contribute to continuous improvement of existing machine designs and engineering processes.

Key Requirements

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.Several years of experience in mechanical design, with a strong focus on machine or equipment design.Strong experience with 3D CAD and mechanical engineering principles.Good understanding of mechanisms, materials, manufacturing processes and tolerancing.Experience taking mechanical designs from concept through to production.Able to work independently while providing technical leadership within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.Practical, hands-on approach to engineering and problem solving.The Offer:A permanent, full-time employment contractA salary & benefits package commensurate with experiencePlease send over your CV to tom.walker@vividresourcing.com or call me on +32 (0) 3 318 00 74.
