Senior Mechanical Engineer

We are looking to hire a Senior Engineer – Mechanical Systems who will be responsible for providing dedicated mechanical engineering delivery support for a major infrastructure programme in the UAE. The role will focus on technical reviews and approvals, site inspections, contractor coordination, testing and commissioning, and ensuring mechanical works are delivered in line with contractual requirements, approved designs, and project milestones. The position will support the project delivery team through to successful handover and close-out, working within a live operational environment for our client based in Dubai, which is one of the largest companies in the region.This position is a contract role with an initial duration of 11 Months and is renewable.Key responsibilities:Review and coordinate timely approvals of mechanical submittals, shop drawings, material and equipment approvals, technical queries, and other project deliverablesEnsure mechanical technical reviews and approvals are completed in accordance with contractual requirements and project timelinesCoordinate site activities including access requirements, permits-to-work, shutdown planning, stakeholder interfaces, and sequencing within live airport operationsConduct site inspections to verify mechanical installations against approved drawings, specifications, and project requirementsIdentify and manage technical observations, non-conformance reports (NCRs), snags, and corrective actions through to closureReview HVAC, chilled water systems, mechanical plant retrofit, and commissioning activities Witness testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities and verify performance evidence and supporting documentationSupport technical sign-offs and ensure testing and commissioning activities comply with project governance and contractual requirementsReview contractor method statements, inspection and test plans (ITPs), commissioning plans, as-built drawings, and other technical documentationCoordinate with contractor delivery teams, permits and access stakeholders, and internal engineering teamsMaintain strong document control and approval workflow discipline to ensure timely reviews, approvals, and submissionsSupport project close-out activities including as-built documentation, O&M manuals, training materials, and handover requirementsEnsure documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted within agreed project timelines to support successful project handoverKnowledge, skills & experience:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline3–5 years of overall engineering experience, with relevant project delivery experienceProven experience supporting mechanical engineering delivery within live operational environmentsHands-on exposure to HVAC, chilled water systems, mechanical plant retrofit, and commissioning activitiesExperience reviewing contractor submittals, method statements, ITPs, commissioning plans, technical drawings, and as-built documentationExperience with site inspections, quality compliance, NCRs, snagging, and technical close-outStrong understanding of permits-to-work, site access requirements, shutdown coordination, and stakeholder interfacesStrong document control and approval workflow discipline, with the ability to manage multiple technical reviews and deadlinesPrevious Dubai Airports experience, particularly with HVAC infrastructure and facilities, would be highly advantageousStrong communication, coordination, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsAbility to work effectively with contractors, consultants, operations teams, and internal stakeholdersProficient in written and verbal EnglishComfortable working in live operational areas and supporting frequent site activities, shutdown windows, inspections, and commissioning worksAvailability:Preference will be given to candidates available immediately or a maximum 30 days after accepting the offer.We are looking for a candidate who will be able to work in United Arab Emirates.
