We are backed by top Silicon Valley investors, including Neo Ventures, MaC Ventures, Ryan Hoover (Product Hunt founder), Naval Ravikant (AngelList founder), and Balaji Srinivasan, among others.The roleAs a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Flyby, you will work across the full product development cycle from early concepts through design for manufacturing, system reliability, and serial production. This is a highly hands-on role with significant ownership. We are looking for an exceptional engineer who likes to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.What you'll doOwn mechanical designs from concept through productionLead efforts to improve reliability, environmental resilience, and system longevity in adversarial and high-vibration conditionsDesign for manufacturing and work closely with manufacturing partnersPerform engineering analyses related to structures, vibration, thermal performance, and environmental protectionCollaborate with electrical and software engineers to integrate mechanical and electrical systemsHelp establish engineering processes, standards, and documentationCore requirementsBS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field5+ years of mechanical engineering experience designing, building, and shipping hardware productsStrong mechanical design fundamentals, including GD&T, tolerance analysis, materials selection, and structural designExperience with design for manufacturability, with an understanding of tooling, surface finishes, and common molding defectsProficiency with CAD and engineering analysis methodsNice to haveExperience designing reliable drones, aircraft, or other weight-constrained electromechanical systemsHands-on experience with environmental stress testing, vibration sensitivity, ingress protection, or thermal design challengesExperience tuning PID controllersComfortable performing failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and root-cause analysis (RCA)Familiarity with rapid prototyping and 3D printingCompensation and Benefits:$160,000 per year annual salary0.25%-0.75% equity via stock options depending on the candidate's experienceCompany holiday calendar and unlimited PTOCompany group health insurance plans401(k)You'll be building something incredibly consequential.
