Precision Robotics StartupPosition Overview As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will serve as the complete owner of a sub-system, system, or full product platform, driving the execution, mechanical design, engineering validation, and transfer to manufacturing. You will bridge the gap between R&D concepts and formal production, working directly with internal team members as well as contract manufacturers and suppliers. We are specifically seeking candidates with proven industry experience taking products through the formal design, manufacturing and production release cycle.Key Responsibilities● Project ownership: The engineer will own the Objectives and Deliverables of a given project. This requires creating and executing a project plan including scope, reqs and specs, design / analysis / verification, task planning and sequencing, managing resources and budgets, and timeline estimates while complying with company Design Controls (DC) and Quality Management Systems (QMS).● Formal Mechanical Design: Execute systematic, deterministic design of complex mechanical assemblies, mechanisms, transmissions, structures, and moving interfaces / joints. Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks) and Engineering Drawings using GD&T standards.● Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Lead designs optimized for efficient assembly and industrial manufacturing methods, including 3D printing, CNC machining, joining methods, plastic injection molding, metal injection molding (MIM), metal stamping, etc. Deep familiarity with materials selection (metals, engineered plastics, polymers).● Engineering Analysis & Benchtop Prototyping: Conduct thorough engineering design and analysis including motion analysis, kinematics, structural modeling (strength, stiffness, mechanics of materials). Develop test rigs/fixtures to conduct bench level testing to verify various design concepts. Hands-on benchtop prototyping, machining (milling/turning), and debugging.● Vendor & Supply Chain Management: Interface with component vendors, contract shops, and suppliers to source parts and manage prototype and production builds. ● Peer Mentorship & Documentation: Serve as a reviewer on other projects, mentor junior team members, and author design documentation (Design Inputs/Outputs, engineering reports, patent specs, and design review presentations).Qualifications & Requirements ● Education: B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.● Industry Experience: Minimum 5 years of industry experience bringing physical mechanical, electro-mechanical products or robotic hardware to formal production. Experience is regulated industries (e.g. aerospace, healthcare, automotive) is a major plus.● Communication & Ownership: Highly organised communication and documentation style. Ability to lead technical design reviews, present clear engineering documentation, and lead small teams effectively.
