Senior Mechanical Engineer

SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER - KORTRIJK REGION (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITIONWe're currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to take a leading role in the development of new and existing products. You will be involved throughout the full product development lifecycle, from initial concepts and feasibility studies through detailed mechanical design, prototyping, testing, validation, and transfer into production.This is a hands-on role combining technical design, problem solving, and project ownership. You will translate customer and product requirements into practical mechanical solutions, while considering performance, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and user requirements. You will have the opportunity to influence product architecture and design decisions from the earliest stages and see your work progress through to a finished product.As a senior member of the team, you will take ownership of complex mechanical development activities and provide technical guidance to other engineers. You will work closely with electrical, electronics, software, manufacturing, and other engineering teams to ensure mechanical solutions are fully integrated into the wider product.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the mechanical development of new products from concept through to production.Translate product and customer requirements into robust mechanical designs.Develop concepts, evaluate different design approaches, and contribute to product architecture.Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings.Design mechanical components, assemblies, enclosures, structures, mechanisms, and other product elements.Select appropriate materials, components, and manufacturing processes.Perform mechanical calculations and analysis to validate and optimise designs.Develop prototypes and coordinate mechanical testing and validation activities.Identify and resolve design issues throughout the development process.Optimise products for performance, reliability, cost, manufacturability, assembly, and serviceability.Work closely with manufacturing and suppliers to transition designs into production.Support design reviews, risk assessments, verification, and validation activities.Investigate and resolve technical issues with existing products and develop design improvements.Create and maintain technical documentation, drawings, BOMs, specifications, and other engineering documentation.Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including electronics, electrical, software, systems, and production engineering.Provide technical leadership and mentoring to less experienced mechanical engineers.Contribute to engineering standards, design processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.Your ProfileBachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.Significant professional experience in mechanical engineering and product development.Strong experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks; experience with other CAD packages is also considered.Proven experience taking mechanical products from concept through to production.Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, tolerancing, and assembly.Experience with prototyping, testing, and design validation.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical approach to engineering challenges.Experience working in multidisciplinary product development teams.Comfortable taking technical ownership and making design decisions.Experience with mechanisms, electromechanical products, or complex assemblies is an advantage.Strong communication skills and the ability to provide technical guidance to other engineers.The Offer:A permanent, full-time employment contractA salary & benefits package commensurate with experiencePlease send over your CV to tom.walker@vividresourcing.com or call me on +32 (0) 3 318 00 74.
