Senior Component EngineerJoin a leading clean energy technology company working on the development of next-generation energy systems, where you'll take ownership of mechanical design from early-stage concepts through to testing and production.This is a highly hands-on opportunity within a small, autonomous engineering team. You'll be responsible for turning early-stage ideas into working mechanical designs, getting involved in CAD, prototyping, testing, troubleshooting and working with manufacturing to ensure designs can ultimately be scaled for production.We're looking for someone who is technically strong, practical and comfortable working independently. You'll be given an objective and expected to take ownership of working out how to achieve it, rather than simply being handed a defined task list.Key Responsibilities – Senior Component EngineerLead the mechanical design and development of key components within a wider energy systemTake designs from early-stage concepts through CAD, prototyping, testing and validationDevelop 3D models, detailed drawings and technical specificationsWork closely with systems engineers to ensure mechanical components integrate effectively within the wider systemSupport prototype builds and get hands-on with physical hardwareDiagnose technical issues and carry out root cause analysisDevelop component requirements and support testing to validate performance and reliabilityWork closely with manufacturing, quality and supply chain teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturableConsider future mass production and scalability when making design decisionsSupport technical reviews, risk assessments and design improvementsWork with suppliers and external partners where requiredTake ownership of mechanical engineering activities within a small, highly autonomous teamExperience & Skills – Senior Component EngineerDegree or equivalent technical background in Mechanical Engineering or a related disciplineStrong experience in mechanical engineering, component design and system-level mechanical designProven experience taking mechanical designs from concept through to testing and validationStrong hands-on CAD experiencePractical experience with prototyping and physical hardwareStrong problem-solving and root cause analysis skillsUnderstanding of design for manufacture and designing with future production and scalability in mindComfortable working independently and taking ownership of technical workstreamsStrong communication skills and ability to work with multiple engineering disciplines and stakeholdersExperience in a fast-moving or early-stage engineering environmentExperience with Creo, FEA, thermal analysis, manifolds/piping systems or engineering risk tools would be advantageousExperience within clean energy, automotive, HVAC or another complex mechanical systems environment would be beneficialThis is an excellent opportunity for a Senior/Principal Mechanical Engineer to take genuine ownership of a key area of technology development, working hands-on within a small engineering team and helping take an early-stage system towards production.If you are interested in this position, please apply with an up to date CV to the application below.
