Apply & track with Apply EdgeAllan-Ashford Technology Recruitment are currently supporting an exciting robotics scale-up developing next-generation autonomous solutions for the Industrial industry, and they are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their growing engineering team.This is an opportunity to work on real robotic systems that are being deployed in challenging environments, taking mechanical concepts from design and prototyping through to field testing and continuous improvement.The RoleAs a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will take ownership of the mechanical design and development of robotic systems, with a strong focus on robustness, manufacturability and real-world performance.You’ll work closely with electrical and software engineers to ensure mechanical systems integrate effectively and perform reliably in the field.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop mechanical systems including frames, housings, joints and structural componentsOptimise designs for strength, weight, vibration, durability and manufacturabilityOwn mechanical design from concept through to prototyping, testing and iterationCollaborate closely with electrical and software teams on system integrationConduct and support prototype and field testing, using results to improve designsLead material selection and mechanical component decisionsUse CAD to develop detailed designs and optimise assemblies for manufacture and serviceabilityHelp establish practical, scalable mechanical solutions as the robotic platform developsWhat They're Looking ForBSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics or a related disciplineStrong professional experience in mechanical design and product developmentExcellent CAD skills, ideally with SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or similarHands-on experience with prototyping, testing and mechanical validationStrong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes and mechanical engineering principlesA practical, hands-on approach to engineering and problem solvingExperience working on robotics, autonomous systems, industrial machinery or similar complex hardware would be highly advantageousPrevious field testing or experience developing products for challenging environments would be a strong plusWhat Makes This Role Different?This isn't a role focused purely on CAD and simulations.You'll be working on physical robotic systems that need to perform in the real world, testing designs, learning from failures and continuously improving the product.The ideal person will be someone who enjoys getting close to the hardware, simplifying complex mechanical problems and building systems that are robust, reliable and easy to maintain.If you're a Senior Mechanical Engineer looking to have a genuine impact on the development of next-generation robotics, we'd be very interested in speaking with you!
