Senior Mechanical Engineer

SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER - LOKEREN REGION (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITIONWe are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in mechanical and machine design to take ownership of the development of complex mechanical systems, machines, assemblies and components.You will lead mechanical design activities from initial concept through detailed engineering, testing and implementation into production. The role combines hands-on CAD and design expertise with technical decision-making, problem solving and a focus on practical, manufacturable solutions.You will work closely with other engineering disciplines, production, suppliers and project teams to develop new machines and components, while improving existing designs in terms of performance, reliability, manufacturability and cost.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the mechanical design and development of machines, mechanical systems, assemblies and components.Take ownership of mechanical engineering activities throughout the product development lifecycle.Develop and review 3D CAD models, detailed drawings and technical specifications.Translate technical requirements into robust, practical mechanical designs.Make engineering decisions relating to materials, components, manufacturing methods and design concepts.Perform engineering calculations and technical assessments to validate designs.Identify and resolve complex mechanical and design-related problems.Improve existing machines and components to enhance performance, reliability, manufacturability and cost.Work closely with production and manufacturing teams to ensure designs can be efficiently produced and assembled.Collaborate with electrical, electronics, software and other engineering disciplines.Support prototype development, testing and transition of new designs into production.Work with suppliers on the development and implementation of mechanical components.Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.

Key Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.Several years of experience in mechanical design, machine design or mechanical product development.Strong experience with 3D CAD and technical drawing.Proven experience designing mechanical components, assemblies and/or complete machines.Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials and manufacturing processes.Experience taking designs from concept through development and into production.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical approach to engineering.Comfortable taking technical ownership and making independent engineering decisions.Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.Able to provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers.Good communication skills in English.The Offer:A permanent, full-time employment contractA salary & benefits package commensurate with experiencePlease send over your CV to tom.walker@vividresourcing.com or call me on +32 (0) 3 318 00 74.
