You can find us at vertiq.co.Job Overview:Vertiq is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and production of advanced propulsion hardware. This role will contribute to mechanical design efforts from concept through production, working closely with electrical engineering, firmware, and manufacturing teams. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with strong fundamentals, attention to detail, and a bias toward execution. This individual will help develop next-generation motor and propulsion components while also supporting prototyping, testing, and production scale-up. This is a full-time, onsite role based in Philadelphia, PA.Responsibilities and Duties:Lead mechanical design and development of propulsion systems, motors, housings, structural components, and related hardware from concept through production.Develop high-level mechanical concepts and architectures, evaluate tradeoffs, and translate system requirements into practical designs.Create detailed CAD models, drawings, assemblies, tolerance schemes, and manufacturing documentation for production hardware.Own detailed engineering execution, including design reviews, release of engineering documentation, ECOs, BOMs, and configuration control.Apply engineering judgment to materials, manufacturing processes, tolerances, structural requirements, thermal constraints, and reliability.Work closely with electrical engineering, firmware, manufacturing, test, and suppliers to ensure successful system integration and production execution.Support prototype builds, hands-on troubleshooting, testing, failure investigation, and design iteration.Interface directly with suppliers on manufacturability, technical requirements, drawing interpretation, and resolution of production issues.Support DFM/DFA and design-for-scale efforts as Vertiq transitions products into higher-volume manufacturing.Support quality initiatives through applicable hardware teardowns, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and implementation of resulting design or process improvements. Mentor less-experienced engineers and help establish strong mechanical engineering practices, documentation standards, and design processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.7+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience, preferably with electromechanical systems, motors, aerospace, robotics, or other high-performance hardware.Strong proficiency with CAD software such as Fusion, SolidWorks, or similar.Demonstrated experience taking mechanical designs from concept through detailed engineering, release, and production.Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and design for manufacturing and assembly.Experience creating and maintaining detailed engineering documentation, drawings, BOMs, ECOs, and other controlled product documentation.Ability to work at both the system/concept level and the detailed engineering level, with a strong attention to the technical details required for successful execution.Hands-on experience with prototyping, mechanical testing, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.Salary And Benefits:The expected salary range for this position is $110,000-$130,000, plus a bonus opportunity and stock options.
