Senior ML / Software Engineer (Tech Lead)

At a top AI lab or big tech company, you work on hard problems, but you’re one cog in a very large machine. This role is the chance to design the whole machine.On behalf of our client, a highly ambitious early-stage Industrial AI startup in Zurich, we’re looking for a Senior ML / Software Engineer to join as a Technical Lead. You’ll sit at Heads level, right alongside the Head of Engineering, shaping how the engineering team and its infrastructure scale through the next funding rounds and beyond.What you’ll do:Build the engineering team and its scalable infrastructure with the founding engineers, setting standards that will last as the company grows.Set the technical direction of the platform, bringing hands-on experience of scaling real systems.Build the platform that takes the research team’s foundation world model into production, deployed in harsh, real-world industrial environments.Work closely with research on how cutting-edge models are best shaped for applied use.Put the processes in place so engineering, already the largest team, scales effectively, and grow and lead that team over time.What you’ll bring:Very strong fundamentals in machine learning and deep learning, for example from a top research lab, big tech, or papers at top conferences.Experience building and scaling a high-traffic product under heavy load, with a deep understanding of the infrastructure behind it.Intense curiosity: you still ask questions like you did on day one.Nice to have:Time-series experience (quant or prop trading backgrounds are very welcome).Python backend experience.Experience leading a team, or a strong appetite for ownership.Why join:Scope: a Heads-level role with real ownership of architecture, infrastructure and team.Research meets engineering: cutting-edge AI applied to the world’s largest industry.Upside: a moonshot at an early stage, with a meaningful VSOP equity package on top of a competitive base salary.Team: a close-knit, high-agency team where people genuinely back each other.Apply here or message elliot@motus-partners.com to find out more.
