Senior Mobile Automotive Diagnostic TechnicianMarty’s Mobile Mechanics is hiring an experienced Senior Mobile Automotive Diagnostic Technician for a full-time position serving Webster, Clear Lake, League City, Friendswood, Pearland, Seabrook, Kemah, and the surrounding Houston area.This is not an entry-level position.We’re looking for somebody who knows how to diagnose a vehicle, not somebody who needs another technician standing over their shoulder telling them what to check next.Mobile mechanic work is different from working in a dealership or a fully equipped repair shop. You don’t always have a lift, a parts department, or every tool sitting ten feet away. You have to know how to troubleshoot, think through a problem, work with what you have, and figure out what is actually wrong before throwing parts at a vehicle.You’ll be traveling to customers, diagnosing vehicles, completing approved repairs, documenting your work, and explaining what you found in plain English.What You’ll Be Doing Diagnose mechanical, electrical, drivability, engine performance, A/C, starting, charging, and fuel system problems Use professional scan tools, multimeters, wiring diagrams, service information, and diagnostic equipment to find the actual cause of a problem Perform repairs at customer homes, workplaces, parking lots, fleet locations, and other service locationsHandle repairs involving brakes, starters, alternators, fuel pumps, cooling systems, suspension, steering, electrical systems, A/C, and general automotive repair Read and understand trouble codes, live data, wiring diagrams, test results, and manufacturer service informationTest and verify your diagnosis before recommending parts Explain findings and repair recommendations clearly to customersKeep accurate notes on diagnostics, repairs, parts, and labor Communicate with customers and the shop about arrival times, job status, and anything unexpected that comes upKeep your tools and work area organized Follow proper safety procedures in the field and at the shopRepresent Marty’s Mobile Mechanics professionally at every jobWhat You NeedSeveral years of real, hands-on automotive repair and diagnostic experience Strong electrical diagnostic skillsStrong understanding of engine performance and drivability problemsExperience diagnosing and repairing automotive A/C and HVAC systems Experience with brakes, fuel systems, cooling systems, starters, alternators, suspension, steering, and general automotive repairExperience using professional automotive scan tools and diagnostic equipmentAbility to read wiring diagrams and understand live vehicle dataAbility to work independently and make good diagnostic decisions in the fieldGood troubleshooting and problem-solving skills Good communication with customersReliable attendance and the ability to manage your jobs without constant supervisionYou Must Have Your OwnReliable vehicle:You need dependable transportation capable of getting you, your tools, and equipment to customer locations throughout the service area.Automotive tools:You must have your own professional hand tools and the basic equipment expected of an experienced automotive technician.This is a senior technician position. We provide access to additional shop equipment and specialty resources when needed, but you should already have the tools required to handle normal automotive repair and diagnostic work.What We’re Looking ForWe want somebody who can show up, look at the problem, and start figuring it out.Not somebody who automatically says, “It needs this part” because a code popped up.Not somebody who replaces three things before finding out the first one wasn’t bad.We need a technician who understands that a trouble code gives you a direction.
