Robotics Modelling & Simulation EngineerPhysical AI / Humanoid Robotics | Munich | Visa Support | EquitySome robotics roles are about making demos look impressive. This one is about making sure the robot is physically correct before the hardware is even built.I’m working with a well-funded stealth robotics company building humanoid robots for industrial environments, with the ambition to create a European leader in physical AI.They are assembling a core engineering team across AI, mechatronics, control, hardware and robotics systems, with the goal of building robots that can move from prototype into real-world deployment at speed. This role sits at the centre of that mission. As Robotics Modelling & Simulation Engineer, you will own the digital twin and simulation foundations behind the robot. Your work will help define load requirements, torque specifications, actuator needs, kinematic constraints and system-level performance before hardware decisions are locked in.In simple terms, you will help make sure the robot is engineered correctly from first principles. The roleYou will be responsible for building and maintaining high-fidelity robot models and simulation environments that act as a single source of truth for the wider engineering team. This is not just simulation for visualisation. The work will directly influence mechanical design, actuator selection, control strategy, packaging, system architecture and the physical limits of the robot. You will work closely with mechanical, electrical, software and control engineers to make sure design decisions are grounded in robust modelling, classical physics and real-world engineering constraints. What you will be working onBuilding and maintaining high-fidelity digital twins for humanoid robotic systemsCreating and improving URDF models and simulation environmentsRunning static and dynamic analysis to define torque, load and actuator requirementsApplying Model-Based Systems Engineering to predict limitations before parts are manufacturedUsing simulation to optimise kinematics, packaging and hardware configurationSupporting system identification, parameter selection and physical model validationDesigning simulation-based experiments for control and hardware decision-makingWorking across classical and ML-based control stacksBuilding internal simulation tools and methodologies that improve engineering speed and qualityTranslating modelling outputs into clear requirements for mechanical, actuator and control teamsWhat they are looking forThe strongest fit will likely be someone who has worked deeply across robotics simulation, multi-body dynamics, mechatronics and physical modelling. This role needs someone who enjoys precision.Someone who can think from first principles, challenge assumptions, and help the team avoid expensive hardware mistakes before they happen. You should bring experience across several of the following areas:5+ years of experience in robotics modelling, simulation, mechatronics or related fieldsStrong understanding of classical physics and multi-body dynamicsExperience building high-fidelity simulation environments forrobotic systemsStrong knowledge of URDF, robot modelling and system-level simulationExperience with tools such as MuJoCo, Gazebo, MATLAB, Simulink, FEAtools or similarUnderstanding of MBSE and how modelling feeds into engineering decision-makingAbility to conduct static and dynamic analysis for torque, load and system performanceExperience supporting hardware, mechanical or actuator design through simulationStrong communication skills across mechanical, electrical, software and control teamsUseful additional experienceHumanoid robotics experienceLegged robotics, mobile manipulation or complex mechatronic systemsSystem identification and parameter estimationControl engineering, either classical or ML-basedExperience moving systems from prototypetoward productionAutomotive, industrial robotics or high-reliability hardware environmentsExperience working in fast-moving early-stage technical teamsCulture fitThis company is looking for builders. Not people who only want to work on isolated research problems. The right person will be practical, technically deep and comfortable making decisions in a fast-moving environment where the hardware, software and modelling work all need to connect. They need someone who can be precise without being slow, ambitious without being political, and collaborative enough to work across several engineering disciplines. This is a strong fit for someone who wants ownership and enjoys solving problems where the cost of being wrong is realLocation and packageLocation: MunichWorking model: Onsite / hybridVisa sponsorship: Available, but EU citizenship/permanent residency preferredSalary: Open depending on experience, with typical senior IC ranges expected around €100,000–€140,000Bonus: Up to 20%Equity: AvailableWhy this is worth consideringThis is a chance to join a stealth robotics company early, before the story is widely known. The company is building in one of the most competitive and important robotics categories globally, with a clear focus on European engineering, industrial deployment and physical AI.For someone who wants to work on humanoid robotics, digital twins, simulation, system modelling and first-principles engineering, this is a rare opportunity to help shape the foundations of a robot before the architecture becomes fixed. If this sounds relevant, apply here or message me directly and I can share more context on the company, leadership team and process.
