The role contributes to safe, reliable, and cost-effective engineering solutions by leveraging finite element analysis (FEA) and physics-based simulation tools (e.g., Abaqus, ANSYS) across the product lifecycle.Essential responsibilities and Duties:Simulation & AnalysisPerform advanced (predominantly non-linear) finite element analyses to evaluate structural performance under relevant design, testing, and installation conditions.Develop, validate, and maintain high-fidelity simulation models of components, subsystems, and systems.Apply sound engineering judgment, analytical calculations, and simulation best practices to ensure robust results.Interpret and communicate simulation outcomes, limitations, and uncertainties.Design Support & Product DevelopmentSupport product development teams with simulation-driven design decisions, feasibility assessments, and optimization.Evaluate new and improved product concepts and contribute to technical specifications.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate analysis results into design solutions.Verification & ValidationDefine and support verification and validation strategies for models and products.Correlate simulation models with test data and improve model accuracy and reliability.Contribute to defining testing procedures, acceptance criteria, and performance benchmarks.Documentation & QualityPrepare, review, and release high-quality analysis reports and technical documentation.Ensure compliance with internal standards, industry codes, and quality requirements.Participate in design reviews, technical audits, and project evaluations.Stakeholder Support & CommunicationPresent analysis results and recommendations to internal stakeholders and external clients.Provide technical support and subject matter expertise in FEA to internal clients and projects.Participate in customer discussions and contribute to technical decision-making.Methods, Tools & Continuous ImprovementDevelop and maintain simulation methodologies, workflows, and automation (e.g., Python scripting).Contribute to standardization of analysis processes and best practices.Support implementation of new tools, techniques, and technologies within modeling and simulation.

Qualifications

MSc or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field with focus on solid mechanics and FEA.Experience:3–5+ years of experience in finite element analysis (preferably in offshore, subsea, or heavy industry).Hands-on experience with Abaqus (preferred) or ANSYS.Programming/scripting skills (e.g., Python) and experience with preprocessing tools (e.g., ANSA) are advantageous.Experience with the use of AI tools and 'Prompt' definitions for efficiency gain purposes (programming, data analysis, etc).Strong analytical skills, with the ability to combine numerical simulations and analytical methods.Skills required:Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional and global teams.Structured, proactive, and quality-focused mindset.Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and deliver within deadlines.BlueFlex (if eligible):We are open to flexible, hybrid working with a combination of on-site & home working daysWhat we can offer yous:Competitive salary.We offer private healthcare for employees and their families as well as subsidised dental care.We provide well-being programs such as Employee Mental health support and health and wellness coaching.Generous private employee-funded pension contributions.Income protection scheme and life insurance.Cycle to work scheme.We have multiple internal employee resources groups, female mentorship programs, volunteering opportunities, and company-wide webinars, amongst other opportunities.SLB is an equal opportunity employer.
