Senior Node.js Developer

Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Node.js Developer to design, build, test, and maintain scalable, high-availability backend systems end to end. This is a full-cycle ownership role — the candidate is expected to take responsibility not only for development but also for the testing and quality of what they build, with minimal reliance on a separate QA function. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on engineering expertise with the ability to influence architecture decisions across teams and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders. Prior experience in banking, financial services, or fintech environments is highly valued.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop scalable, highly available RESTful APIs using Node.jsBuild and maintain GraphQL based servicesOwn end-to-end quality of delivered code, including unit testing, integration testing, and API/contract testingOwn performance tuning, debugging, and monitoring of production systemsContribute to CI/CD pipelines and support troubleshooting across distributed service ecosystemsWork with containerized environments including Docker and KubernetesIntegrate services with API gateways such as 3ScaleImplement secure authentication using SSO and token based standards (REST, JWT, OAuth)Work with task and message queue systems including AWS, Microsoft Azure, Pushpin, and KafkaUphold best practices in coding standards, security, unit testing, and documentationEnsure the quality of technical and application architecture across the organizationResearch and benchmark technologies against industry best practicesOperate within Agile delivery frameworksRequired QualificationsEducationPostgraduate degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent industry experienceExperienceMinimum 8 years of professional coding experience in Node.js, JavaScript, and database technologiesAt least 1 year of hands on experience with TypeScriptDemonstrated experience in performance tuning, debugging, and system monitoringHands on experience writing and maintaining automated test suites (unit, integration, and/or API level)Technical SkillsStrong expertise in building scalable, highly available RESTful APIs with Node.jsPractical experience with GraphQLProficiency with testing frameworks and practices (e.g. Jest, Mocha, Supertest, or equivalent)Solid understanding of CI/CD principles and hands on troubleshooting in distributed systemsWorking knowledge of containerization technologies, including Docker and KubernetesExperience integrating with API gateways such as 3ScaleUnderstanding of Single Sign On and token based authentication protocols (REST, JWT, OAuth)Advanced knowledge of task and message queue systems such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Pushpin, and KafkaFunctional SkillsProven track record following best practices in coding, security, unit testing, and documentationExperience in banking, financial services, or fintech within an enterprise setting is preferredWorking knowledge of Agile methodologyAbility to ensure high quality technical and application architecture across the organizationSkilled in researching and benchmarking technologies against industry standardsSoft SkillsAbility to influence and align multiple teams on technical direction, improving overall productivity and effectivenessSelf motivated and self driven, capable of owning initiatives independently while collaborating across teamsExcellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with senior and executive management
