Senior Oil Derivatives Trader - Energy GroupOverviewThis is a well-established international energy trading and commodities organisation with a growing presence in Asia. As part of its continued growth in Asia, the firm is seeking a Senior Oil Derivatives Trader to drive trading performance and expand its market footprint across regional and international oil derivatives markets. This is a senior front-office opportunity for a proven risk taker who combines strong commercial instincts with disciplined portfolio management and deep market expertise.RoleReporting into the trading leadership team, you will be responsible for developing and executing proprietary trading strategies across crude oil and refined products derivatives. The position covers a broad range of trading approaches including directional, relative value, arbitrage and event-driven strategies, utilising instruments such as futures, swaps and options. You will analyse market fundamentals, refinery economics, trade flows, inventories, freight dynamics and macroeconomic developments to identify opportunities and generate returns. Working closely with analytics, risk, operations, legal and compliance teams, you will ensure robust risk oversight while contributing market intelligence, strategic ideas and mentorship to the wider trading platform.RequirementsThe successful candidate will bring substantial experience trading oil derivatives within a commodity trading house, energy company, financial institution or hedge fund, supported by a strong history of profitable trading performance. You should possess deep knowledge of crude and/or refined products markets, including pricing mechanisms, market structures and physical value chains. Strong expertise in futures, swaps, options and portfolio risk management is essential, along with excellent analytical and quantitative capabilities. An established network within the Asian oil trading community, sound commercial judgement, strong stakeholder management skills and a high standard of integrity and risk discipline will be critical for success in this role.
