Senior Power Engineer

OverviewA growing engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Power Engineer to support utility-scale and commercial Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), microgrid, and power system interconnection projects. This role will provide technical leadership from project development through design, construction, commissioning, and energization while working closely with utilities, developers, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.ResponsibilitiesLead electrical engineering efforts for BESS, microgrid, and inverter-based resource projects.Develop and review power system designs, one-lines, protection schemes, and interconnection packages.Perform and oversee power system studies including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, protection coordination, harmonics, and transient analyses.Support utility interconnection processes and compliance with applicable industry standards.Coordinate with clients, utilities, vendors, and internal engineering teams throughout project execution.Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and startup activities.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.PE license preferred or required.10+ years of experience in power systems engineering.Strong experience with BESS, utility interconnections, protection & controls, and medium/high-voltage electrical systems.Experience using power system analysis software such as ETAP, SKM, ASPEN, PSCAD, or similar tools.Knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE standards, and utility interconnection requirements.Strong communication skills with the ability to support client-facing projects.Why Consider This Opportunity?Fully remote position within the U.S.Work on utility-scale energy storage, microgrid, renewable energy, and critical infrastructure projects.High-impact technical leadership role with strong growth potential.Competitive compensation, benefits, and professional development opportunities.
