Collaboration, continuous improvement, commercial thinking and high engineering standards are central to the way the team operates.You’ll join a multidisciplinary Data function, working alongside specialists across Data Engineering, Data Products, Data Management, Data Visualisation and Data Science.The RoleWe’re looking for an experienced Senior Power BI Developer to take a leading technical role in the design, delivery and continuous improvement of trusted, business-critical Power BI products.You’ll own complex reporting solutions from discovery and design through to deployment, support and ongoing optimisation. You’ll translate business questions into intuitive, scalable and governed data experiences while balancing usability, performance, security and maintainability.This is a role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, setting technical direction and raising standards. You’ll act as a trusted technical adviser, challenge unnecessary complexity, coach colleagues and help shape how high-quality BI products are designed and delivered across the organisation.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn the end-to-end technical delivery and lifecycle of complex Power BI products, from discovery and solution design through development, testing, deployment, support and continuous improvement.Lead the design of intuitive, user-focused reporting experiences and reusable patterns that improve adoption and reduce unnecessary duplication.Design and optimise scalable semantic models, advanced DAX, Power Query transformations and report structures, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.Determine the appropriate location for transformation and business logic across data, modelling and reporting layers.Establish and maintain high standards across engineering, visual design, accessibility, documentation, security, reconciliation, source control and controlled releases.Manage technical debt and operational reliability, ensuring reporting products remain supportable and fit for purpose throughout their lifecycle.Advise stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams on technical decisions, risks, dependencies and delivery trade-offs.Challenge requirements and existing approaches constructively, helping teams avoid unnecessary complexity and one-off solutions.Coach developers and analysts through design reviews, technical guidance, reusable examples and constructive feedback.Champion continuous improvement by using user feedback, evidence and performance data to enhance reporting products and their adoption.Skills & ExperienceRequiredTechnicalAdvanced hands-on experience delivering complex Power BI solutions in an enterprise or business-critical environment.Experience with UX/UI methodologies, user research, analytics product management or adoption measurement.Expert knowledge of DAX, Power Query, semantic modelling, dimensional modelling and report performance optimisation.Strong SQL skills and a solid understanding of modern data platforms and data architectures.Experience working with curated data layers, pipelines, data contracts, data lineage and reconciliation.Strong understanding of where transformation and business logic should sit across the data and reporting landscape.Practical experience of enterprise Power BI governance, including workspaces, row-level security, deployment pipelines, source control, release management, monitoring and production support.ProfessionalDemonstrable technical leadership experience, with the confidence to make complex decisions and balance immediate delivery with long-term product quality.Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts, calculations, risks and trade-offs to non-technical audiences.Strong coaching and collaboration skills, with a track record of raising standards through reviews, guidance and constructive feedback.A proactive, analytical approach to problem-solving, with personal accountability for delivering high-quality outcomes.Significant experience delivering enterprise or business-critical BI products, including complex semantic models, multi-stakeholder reporting and full-lifecycle ownership.Evidence of improving performance, usability and maintainability across BI or analytics environments.DesirableExperience using Power BI alongside a modern cloud data platform such as Databricks, Google Cloud Platform or Microsoft Fabric.Experience rationalising or decommissioning legacy reporting solutions.Working knowledge of Python or R.Familiarity with AI-assisted analytics, conversational analytics or emerging AI capabilities within the BI landscape.What’s on OfferThe organisation recognises that its people are fundamental to its success and is committed to creating an inclusive, collaborative environment where everyone can do their best work.Equal OpportunitiesWe are an equal opportunities employer and are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace which values and benefits from the diversity of the workforce we hire.
