Apply & track with Apply EdgeWe are recruiting a Senior Primary Design Engineer based in Brisbane for our client, who operate in the transmission & distribution industry. Reporting into the engineering leadership team, this role suits someone with substantial hands-on design experience who can confidently lead technical work packages from concept through to construction. It offers exposure to a variety of projects, the chance to mentor junior engineers, and involvement in shaping design standards and processes across the organisation.ResponsibilitiesLead and deliver primary design packages, including equipment selection, layout design, and technical specificationsPrepare and review engineering drawings, calculations, and design documentation in accordance with relevant standards and codesProvide technical oversight and quality assurance for design outputs produced by design teams and external consultantsLiaise with clients, stakeholders, and internal project teams to understand design requirements and constraintsConduct site assessments and inspections to inform and validate design solutionsSupport tendering and estimating processes through the development of scope, cost estimates, and technical inputCoordinate with secondary systems, civil, structural, and other disciplines to ensure integrated design outcomesEnsure designs comply with applicable regulatory, safety, and environmental requirementsMentor and provide technical guidance to graduate and junior engineersExperienceExtensive experience in primary electrical design within the utilities, infrastructure, or industrial sectorDemonstrated experience leading design packages on medium to large-scale projectsStrong working knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes, and regulatory frameworksExperience using industry-standard design and drafting softwareProven ability to manage competing priorities across multiple concurrent projectsExperience liaising directly with clients and external stakeholdersQualificationsBachelor's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
