CNPC R&D (DIFC) Company Limited is CNPC’s new R&D and Technical Support centre based in Dubai with mission to support the company’s asset interests in the Middle East (e.g., UAE, Iraq, Oman) and conduct strategic R&D projects in close collaboration with CNPC’s upstream research and engineering institutes in Beijing and other internal and external partners.Role PurposeThe Senior Principal Carbonate Development Geologist will be a key member in the technical department, with the following objectives:Delivery of development geology expertise in the project, with focus on conceptual and digital geological models.Develop conceptual reservoir models.Lead the construction of integrated reservoir modelling including structural and matrix geological modelling. Contribute to field development planning activities for a range of complex (fractured) carbonate reservoirs.Supervise the construction of digital models.Apply and integrated subsurface workflows and promote data gathering, risk/uncertainty management techniques and data management activities.Support of well planning and operation.Supervision of regional studies and basin modelling.Key AccountabilitiesLead appraisal and development of complex carbonate reservoir.Ensure that geological concepts and diagenetic models are adequately captured in high-quality static models.Provide geological input into various phases of the project including well and field development planning.Drive cross-discipline integration, communication, practices and working methods/styles.Qualification and ExperiencePhD degree in GeoscienceA highly experienced geoscientist with at least 12 years’ experience in E&P geosciences, reservoir modelling, preferably in appraisal-development.English proficiency at B2 level or above, with the ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural and technical environment.Robust background in carbonate sedimentology and diagenesisStrong experience in carbonates and or unconventional reservoirs. University degree or higher-level qualification in relevant subject.Previous experience working as a geologist for complex field developments.Experience with carbonate reservoirs (fractured) developments is mandatory.Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
