Senior Procurement Engineer – Electrical

The Senior Procurement Engineer – Electrical is responsible for managing and executing procurement activities related to electrical materials, equipment, and services. The role involves developing procurement strategies, sourcing qualified suppliers, evaluating technical and commercial offers, negotiating prices and contractual terms, and ensuring timely delivery in accordance with project requirements, quality standards, and company policies.Key Responsibilities:Manage the end-to-end procurement process for electrical materials, equipment, and services.Review purchase requisitions, technical specifications, BOQs, drawings, and project requirements.Identify, evaluate, and prequalify suitable local and international electrical suppliers and subcontractors.Prepare and issue RFQs and conduct commercial and technical evaluations of supplier quotations.Coordinate with Engineering, Projects, Operations, Finance, and other relevant departments to ensure procurement requirements are clearly defined.Review technical compliance of supplier offers in coordination with the Engineering/Technical team.Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, warranties, and other commercial conditions with suppliers.Prepare and issue Purchase Orders, Work Orders, and other procurement-related documents in accordance with approved procedures and ERP _OracleMonitor supplier performance, order status, lead times, and delivery schedules to ensure timely project execution.Follow up on long-lead electrical materials and equipment and proactively identify potential delays or risks.Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, approval authorities, and applicable procedures.Maintain and update procurement trackers, supplier databases, cost comparisons, and procurement reports.Support cost-saving initiatives and identify opportunities for value engineering and commercial optimization.Resolve supplier-related issues concerning delivery, quality, documentation, and commercial matters.Ensure proper documentation and records are maintained throughout the procurement cycle.Support contract and supplier performance management when required.Mentor and provide guidance to junior procurement engineers and procurement team members.Perform market research and monitor price trends, availability, and developments within the electrical supply market.Ensure compliance with HSE, quality, ethical procurement, and supplier code of conduct requirements.Required Qualifications & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, or a related field.7–10 years of relevant experience in procurement, preferably within construction, MEP, infrastructure, hospitality, or major projects.Strong experience in the procurement of electrical materials, equipment, and systems.Good knowledge of electrical products such as LV/MV panels, transformers, generators, cables, lighting systems, cable trays, switchgear, UPS systems, earthing systems, and related electrical components.
