Senior Product & Program Manager

Location: Remote — Nigeria (Lagos State or FCT residents only)BlueOcean Tech Services is seeking an experienced Senior Product & Program Manager to join our team and work on an international technology engagement. This is not a coordination-only product role.

We are looking for someone who can take genuine ownership: understand ambiguous problems, engage directly with customers, determine what is worth building, translate insights into clear product requirements, align technical and business stakeholders, and drive work through delivery, launch and iteration. If your strongest experience involves owning and building products—not simply tracking their delivery—we would like to hear from you. What You’ll OwnYou will work across product discovery, delivery and program execution, including:Owning products and initiatives from discovery through delivery, launch and iteration.Conducting customer/user discovery directly and translating findings into product decisions.Independently identifying and recruiting appropriate users or customers for research.Developing clear PRDs, product specifications, requirements and acceptance criteria.Working closely with engineering and other stakeholders to move products from requirements to execution.Identifying dependencies, risks and blockers and proactively driving them towards resolution.Using customer evidence, data and experimentation to evaluate product decisions and outcomes.Managing cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and dependencies.Making informed recommendations about what should be built, changed, prioritised—or deliberately not built.Maintaining clear written documentation and communication in a distributed working environment.Using AI tools thoughtfully to improve research, analysis, documentation and product workflows while appropriately validating outputs. What We’re Looking ForYou are likely to thrive in this role if you:Have personally owned meaningful digital products or programs end-to-end, from discovery or pre-launch through delivery and subsequent iteration.Have personally conducted customer/user interviews and can demonstrate how the findings influenced a product decision. Can independently recruit appropriate users or customers for product discovery.Have developed detailed PRDs, product specifications or equivalent documentation and can provide examples of your work.Have experience working closely with software engineering teams. Can influence engineers, business stakeholders and senior decision-makers, including people who do not report directly to you.Use metrics, experimentation and customer evidence to inform decisions.Communicate exceptionally well in writing and can operate effectively in a distributed, asynchronous environment. Are highly resourceful and comfortable moving work forward without waiting for every next step to be defined.Use AI meaningfully in your professional workflow and understand how to validate its output. This Role May Not Be the Right Fit IfYour experience is primarily in project coordination, meeting scheduling, maintaining trackers or status reporting without meaningful ownership of product decisions.Likewise, this role may not be suitable if you have managed delivery timelines but have not personally conducted customer discovery, developed product requirements or owned products through delivery and iteration.Selection ProcessWe value evidence of work over polished terminology or job titles.Candidates progressing through the selection process should be prepared to provide or discuss:A product or initiative personally owned from discovery through launch and iteration.A customer-discovery example and how the findings influenced a decision.A redacted PRD, product specification or comparable work sample. An example of a product or feature you recommended changing or not building based on evidence. How you influence cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority. How AI forms part of your professional workflow and how you verify its outputs. This is a remote role, with required working-hours overlap with US Central Time (approximately 4:00–9:00 p.m. WAT). Candidates must have reliable primary and backup power and internet arrangements suitable for remote work. Please note: This position is fully remote; however, applicants must currently reside in Lagos State or the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to be eligible for employment. Please submit your application through LinkedIn. Applications sent by direct message will not be considered. We are intentionally keeping the shortlist small and will prioritise candidates who can demonstrate genuine ownership, sound product judgement and strong evidence of their work.
