After a period of running as separate regional teams across the UK, Ireland and Europe, design is now coming back together into a single, unified global team, and this role sits right at the heart of that.The roleThis is a player/coach position: roughly 60% hands-on design, 40% leadership and strategy. You'll lead a team of 3–5 designers while staying close to the work yourself, shaping both the craft and the culture as previously separate teams come together under one roof.You'll act as the connective tissue across the design function, bringing consistency, shared standards, and a stronger sense of team to a group that's spent the last couple of years working independently.What you'll be doingLeading and mentoring a small team of designers, while remaining hands-on with your own projectsWorking across the full product lifecycle rather than a single narrow areaBalancing UX and UI work evenly, with strong app design experience alongside webHelping unify design standards, patterns and ways of working across a newly consolidated teamWhat we're looking forSenior/Lead-level product designer with genuine breadth across products or pillarsStartup or fast-paced experience, comfortable moving quickly with less processStrong UI craft, this role leans visual and interaction-design heavy, not just UX/researchSolid app design experience, at least 50/50 split with webA portfolio that tells a story, we want to see your thinking and process, not just headline metricsReal player/coach experience: you've led people as well as done the work yourselfGood to know3 days a week in a Bank/Moorgate office, easy commute from most of LondonThis isn't the right fit if your background is mainly large corporate/enterprise or banking environments, or centred on checkout products
