Apply & track with Apply EdgeWe are seeking an experienced Senior Project Accountant to join our clients growing construction team in Lexington, Kentucky. This role is responsible for overseeing the financial and accounting operations of large-scale construction projects, ensuring accurate cost reporting, billing, subcontract administration, cash flow management, and project financial analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong construction accounting experience and the ability to work independently while supporting project management and operations teams.ResponsibilitiesReview and process subcontracts, change orders, and bonds to ensure contract compliance.Manage subcontractor and supplier lien waivers, invoices, and payment processing.Ensure accurate project cost coding, accruals, and cost report maintenance.Prepare, analyze, and submit monthly project P&Ls and financial reports.Process project cost transfers and accounting adjustments.Prepare, review, and submit owner billings and related documentation.Monitor project cash flow, accounts receivable, and collections.Partner with project teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance.Oversee accounting activities for large-scale or multiple construction projects.Support month-end close, audits, and other project accounting functions.Provide financial analysis and recommendations to project and operational leadership.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, Business, or a related field.Minimum 4+ years of construction accounting experience.Strong knowledge of project cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and revenue recognition.Experience with owner billings, subcontract administration, lien waivers, and cash flow management.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Strong written and verbal communication abilities.Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.PreferredExperience supporting large commercial, industrial, healthcare, or infrastructure construction projects.Familiarity with ERP and construction accounting software systems.Experience with project-based financial reporting and contract accounting.What We OfferCompetitive salary and annual bonus opportunity.Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits.401(k) with company match.Paid time off and company holidays.Career advancement opportunities within a growing organization.Collaborative and team-oriented work environment.Location Requirement: This is an onsite position located in Lexington, KY, requiring attendance in the office five days per week.
