Our business is built around technical competence, dependable project delivery and our company principle of Service Through Pride.Role DescriptionAmakosi Fire is looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager – Fire Protection to join our Big Works team.This is a senior position suited to a Project Manager who understands the demands of large construction projects and can take control of both the operational and commercial aspects of project delivery.The role will involve the management and coordination of large-scale and higher-risk projects from inception through to completion and close-out.The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a clear view of each project from programme and procurement through to site execution, financial performance and handover.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare, maintain and manage project schedules and monitor progress against agreed construction programmes. Where deviations occur, corrective action must be implemented.Coordinate the activities required to keep projects moving, ensuring that site teams, suppliers, subcontractors and internal departments are working to the same programme and priorities.Coordinate internal and external stakeholders through structured project meetings and maintain effective communication with clients, contractors, consultants and relevant authorities.Ensure fabrication workshop scheduling is aligned with site demand and project requirements.Plan procurement, materials and project resources in advance so that site progress is not unnecessarily delayed.Ensure Purchase Orders remain within approved project budgets and monitor procurement and cost-saving opportunities throughout the project.Maintain financial awareness across projects and identify cost or commercial concerns before they become significant problems.Manage subcontractor appointments and ensure subcontractors are correctly onboarded with valid contracts and insurance before site access.Manage variation claims within contractual timelines and validate subcontractor claims against the agreed scope and allowable rates.Maintain alignment between project cashflow, Work in Progress and the actual work completed.Take responsibility for resolving project issues quickly and practically while protecting programme, cost, quality and client expectations.Ensure compliance with NFPA, SANS, OHSA, ASIB and other applicable fire protection requirements, while maintaining high safety and quality standards.Maintain project quality-control documentation and coordinate inspections, snag lists and close-out documentation.Ensure drawings and cutting lists are correct when issued for project execution.Candidate ProfileWe are looking for a Senior Project Manager who is technically capable, commercially aware and comfortable operating in a fast-moving construction environment.The successful candidate must be able to communicate confidently with clients and professional teams, manage subcontractors and site personnel, make decisions when projects are under pressure and maintain a disciplined approach to planning and follow-through.Strong problem-solving ability and effective leadership under pressure on large-scale or high-risk projects are essential.Experience within the fire protection industry will be highly advantageous, together with a practical understanding of project cost control, construction programmes, procurement, contractual administration and site execution.This role will suit someone who is comfortable being accountable for the outcome of a project and who understands that successful project management requires control of the detail as well as the bigger picture.LocationChloorkop, Kempton Park, Gauteng
