In this role, you will develop high-performance backend services, implement modern communication protocols, and build the infrastructure that powers intelligent multi-agent ecosystems.The ideal candidate has strong Python backend engineering experience, expertise in asynchronous and event-driven architectures, and hands-on knowledge of API design, distributed systems, and modern agent integration patterns.Project OverviewOur customer is a multinational corporation with more than a century of history and operations in over 180 countries. Our engineering teams develop core platform components powering best-in-class eCommerce, Digital Marketing, and IoT solutions.As a Senior Python Backend Engineer, you will become part of the Core Architecture Team, contributing to the development of a modern Digital Engineering Enterprise Platform.The platform provides engineering teams with reusable services, cloud technologies, governance standards, and operational best practices that accelerate software delivery across more than 700 enterprise applications.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain backend services using Python and the AWS AgentCore SDK.Build and integrate Agent-to-Agent (A2A) communication using AWS AgentCore Runtime and Gateway.Implement agent registration, discovery, target configuration, and lifecycle management.Develop and maintain Agent Card definitions and .well-known/agent.json endpoints.Implement A2A communication protocols using JSON-RPC 2.0 and event-driven architectures.Design and support communication workflows between caller and target agents.Develop asynchronous communication using Server-Sent Events (SSE), webhooks, and push notifications.Build scalable REST APIs and backend services that enable secure and reliable agent interaction.Implement event lifecycle management, task status tracking, and execution monitoring.Ensure high availability, scalability, security, and performance across distributed backend services.Collaborate with AI, platform, DevOps, and security teams to support enterprise multi-agent integration.Troubleshoot, test, monitor, and optimize backend services in production environments.Produce technical documentation, API specifications, and integration standards for agent connectivity.RequirementsBachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.5+ years of professional backend development experience using Python or Go.Strong experience developing asynchronous backend applications using Python.Experience designing and implementing REST APIs, including endpoint development and API routing.Experience with AWS AgentCore Runtime, AgentCore Gateway, or similar agent integration platforms.Experience implementing Agent-to-Agent (A2A) communication patterns.Knowledge of JSON-RPC 2.0, Server-Sent Events (SSE), webhooks, and event-driven architectures.Experience developing Agent Card JSON schemas and implementing .well-known/agent.json endpoints.Strong understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and backend integration patterns.Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.Nice to HaveExperience validating AWS AgentCore Gateway template integrations.Experience with AWS Bedrock multi-agent invocation patterns.Hands-on experience implementing SSE task lifecycle events and push notification workflows.Experience with OpenTelemetry and distributed tracing using AWS Distro for OpenTelemetry (ADOT).Familiarity with observability, monitoring, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native backend architectures.Why Join UsBuild the backend infrastructure powering next-generation enterprise AI and multi-agent systems.Work with cutting-edge AWS AgentCore technologies and modern distributed architectures.Collaborate with experienced AI, platform, and cloud engineering teams on global-scale solutions.Contribute to engineering standards, integration frameworks, and best practices for enterprise AI platforms.Play a key role in shaping scalable, secure, and production-ready agent communication services.
