Position OverviewThe High-Performance Fibers and Composites Program Department of Shanghai Institute is dedicated to developing innovative products and technologies for high-performance fibers (including high-performance carbon fibers and organic fibers) as well as thermoset and thermoplastic composites. The department serves the strategic and emerging markets targeted by Shanghai Institute, including aerospace, the low-altitude economy, new energy and energy storage, rail transit, automotive, and high-end sports equipment. It also addresses CNPC’s requirements for the application and development of composite materials in oilfield exploration and oilfield equipment markets.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as a core member of the department in building its capabilities in materials simulation and structural design: introduce, develop and validate frontier simulation technologies and methodologies — such as AI-driven simulation and multiphysics coupling — to raise the overall technical competency of the team.Lead multiphysics coupled simulations (structural, fluid, thermal, etc.) of products or systems for performance prediction and risk assessment; take an active part in key tests (e.g., mechanical testing and environmental testing) to obtain validation data; benchmark test data against simulation results to calibrate and refine models, thereby improving model confidence and predictive accuracy.Engage deeply throughout the entire product development lifecycle, providing simulation technical support and training to colleagues in design, testing, process engineering and other functions.Track industry trends in simulation technology and conduct forward-looking technical research.Qualifications and Skill RequirementsPh.D. degree with a background in Polymer Science or Materials Science.A minimum of 3 years of simulation and analysis experience in the composites field, e.g., structural design of fiber-reinforced composite products (glass fiber, carbon fiber, aramid fiber); demonstrated capability in analyzing the strength, stiffness, service life and failure modes of composite materials; hands-on experience in developing new products across the full chain from material selection and material card generation to structural design, process trials and mass production.Proficiency in at least one mainstream CAE software package (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL, LS-DYNA, Fluent, STAR-CCM+) and the associated pre- and post-processing tools.
