MissionThe Senior Researcher will contribute to the design and development of critical components of the fault-tolerant quantum computing stack, focusing on quantum error correction decoding strategies and logical-level quantum algorithms. The role is responsible for advancing scalable error-corrected quantum computation through rigorous theoretical research, numerical simulation, software development, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary research teams.ResponsibilitiesFault-Tolerant Quantum ResearchConduct research on quantum error correction decoders under realistic circuit-level noise models or on fault-tolerant quantum algorithms.Develop, analyze and benchmark decoding strategies or logical-level algorithmic approaches.Advance the theoretical understanding and practical performance of large-scale fault-tolerant quantum computing systems.Architecture, Simulation and Software DevelopmentDevelop models, simulation methods and software tools for evaluating fault-tolerant architectures.Perform resource estimation and logical-level optimization for scalable quantum computing.Contribute to the integration of decoding and algorithmic solutions into modular system architectures.Cross-Functional CollaborationCollaborate closely with theory and engineering teams to ensure consistency across architecture, algorithms and simulation frameworks.Support the translation of theoretical advances into practical methodologies applicable to physical quantum processors.Share technical knowledge across multidisciplinary research activities.Scientific ExcellenceProduce high-quality scientific publications, software contributions and technical documentation.Present research results at international conferences and workshops.Continuously evaluate emerging advances in fault-tolerant quantum computing and incorporate relevant developments into ongoing research activities.Required QualificationsPhD in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.Demonstrated expertise in quantum error correction, decoding algorithms or fault-tolerant quantum algorithms.Strong publication record and/or significant software contributions.Experience with numerical simulation, logical-level quantum circuit design or resource estimation.Ability to work independently on technically demanding research problems.Excellent analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills.Strong communication and collaboration capabilities in multidisciplinary research environments.Preferred ExperienceExperience with circuit-level noise modelling and quantum error correcting codes.Expertise in logical-level compilation and optimization within fault-tolerant architectures.Software development for quantum computing simulation frameworks.Experience contributing to modular quantum computing architectures.Participation in international research collaborations and scientific dissemination activities.Strong interest in advancing scalable fault-tolerant quantum computing from theory to practical implementation.
