We operate across high-stakes domains, including Energy, Manufacturing, Health, Aviation, and Security, Cybersecurity & Defence, working alongside leading Corporates, European universities, research institutes, and technology providers from all around Europe.🎯 The RoleWe are seeking a Senior Researcher to strengthen the research capability of our Digital Innovation Unit.This is a dual role, split broadly in equal measure between generating the ideas and opportunities that become our next projects, writing the proposals that win them, and leading the work once it is funded.We are open to two profiles (weighed equally):Cross-domain Researcher: You move ideas and methods between sectors, getting to grips with new domains quickly.Domain Specialist: You bring genuine depth in one of our key domains (Transportation/Aviation, Health, or Security & Defence).In both cases, you need enough fluency in data and AI to shape solutions and hold your own with specialists, but neither route asks you to build models yourself. What we are not looking for is breadth without depth anywhere.💡 What You Will DoDrive Research Ideation: Monitor the state of the art, identify gaps, and translate emerging paradigms (particularly in Generative and Agentic AI) into concrete, fundable research concepts.Pipeline & Proposals: Co-develop the opportunity pipeline across Horizon Europe, Digital Europe, EDF, and national programmes. Lead the preparation of competitive proposals (Excellence, Impact, methodology, work plans).Consortium Building: Engage academic, industrial, and end-user partners to build strong consortia and represent Suite5 at a scientific level.Project & Scientific Leadership: Lead funded projects/work packages, owning scope, execution, and delivery. Define research methodologies and formal evaluation protocols to ensure high scientific rigour.Bridge Domain & Tech: Translate operational realities from practitioners into clear technical requirements.Mentorship & Representation: Act as a scientific reference point within the Unit, mentor junior researchers, and represent Suite5 at European conferences, brokerage events, and workshops.🎓 What You BringRequirements:Education: MSc in Computer/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or a discipline central to our domains (Aeronautics, Biomedical Engineering, Cybersecurity, etc.).Experience: At least 5 years of substantive research and innovation experience with a track record in EU-funded R&I projects (Horizon Europe, H2020, Digital Europe, EDF).Proposals: Demonstrable contribution to writing and winning competitive research proposals.Tech Fluency: Working fluency in data and AI technologies to judge technical feasibility and evaluate solutions.Skills: Exceptional scientific/technical writing in English, analytical mindset, and strong interpersonal leadership in cross-border teams.Domain Depth (At least one direction):Breadth across domains: R&I experience spanning multiple sectors with knowledge transfer capabilities.Depth in one domain: Recognized expertise in Aviation, Health, or Security & Defence (regulations, operational realities, data constraints).Preferred Qualifications:A PhD is welcomed and positively assessed (though not strictly required).Experience with sensitive data, dual-use considerations, clinical validation, or safety-certified environments.Familiarity with Data Spaces, Semantic Interoperability, and European Data Governance frameworks.A record of peer-reviewed publications in reputable venues.Proficiency with project management tools (Jira, MS Project, or equivalent).🎁 What We OfferCompetitive compensation package commensurate with experience.Genuine scientific ownership and space to co-design research directions.Direct involvement in cutting-edge European R&I projects alongside top international partners.Support for publication, conference participation, and continued scientific development.Flexible hybrid working arrangements (Athens or Limassol).Clear pathways for professional growth within an expanding European footprint.📩 ApplyIf this opportunity excites you and we believe you are the right person for the role, we will be glad to receive your application!
