Apply & track with Apply EdgeSenior Risk Manager – Commodity Trading (Singapore) We are looking for a talent who is suitable for the position of Senior Risk Manager to join Stavian to #GOGLOBAL with the following criteria & work:Job SummaryReporting to the CEO, BOD or Group Chief Risk Officer, the Senior Risk Manager will be responsible for managing all market risk management and middle office functions supporting the Stavian Singapore Pte Ltd business and related entities regionally and globally.The Senior Risk Manager will work to develop, implement market risk management policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Group requirements and best practices. Through the monitoring and analysis of the trading data, the Senior Risk Manager can effectively identify potential risks and opportunities in the commodities trading and shipping markets.The key tasks are to capture daily trading P&L capture and to carry out stress testing, VaR, sensitivity analysis and other risk oversight tools to offer analysis of market conditions. Through active participation via discussions with front office, analytics and other risk functions such as credit, the senior risk manager will also review trading strategies and embedded optionalities of non-standard transactions.StrategyThe Senior Risk Manager role exists to support the Commodities and Shipping market risk management .Take a forward-looking perspective, taking into consideration external events which may be material. Ensure appropriate management action is being taken to mitigate their impact.To ensure the regulations, Risk Management Framework and internal policies/standards are effectively communicated and implemented.Develop proactive engagement with the business, Risk Committees in pursuit of balanced risk / return via discussions on Financial Market risk exposures and limitsTo drive change in the Commodities and Shipping business in collaboration with other parts of the business, risk and group risk functions.Contribute to counterparty risk management and geographical risk and credit managementBusinessTo support the Commodities and Shipping business in the management of Traded Market Risk.Engage business on material position, review limits proposal and support new products roll out.Highlight key Traded Risk related concerns to various committees and risk forums.Contribute to the Group’s annual Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (‘ICAAP’) for Commodities and Shipping related positions.ProcessesTo enhance processes within the Traded Risk team to manage the risk of Commodities and Shipping exposures.Advise business in the calibration of limits for Traded Risk controls and review any changes.Participate in the submissions and meetings for various forums related to market risk and / or Commodities business.Response for the commodities stress shocks for Stress Loss scenarios for risk appetite monitoring and regulatory purpose.Monitor the risk taking of the Commodities business to ensure that any breach of risk appetite is followed up promptly.Key Responsibilitiesa. Risk ManagementIdentify and report material key risks in the Commodities and Shipping space to senior management and challenge the First Line to evidence that the material risks arising from their business activities have been identified, assessed, monitored, and reported.Determine suitable Traded Risk controls to ensure risk taking is within risk appetite.Monitor internal and external events material to the trading book and highlight hot spot risk to the management.Identify and escalate new and emerging risks that could be material to the GroupPerform market risk related control, including investigation of all limit excesses and escalating limit breaches.Review of data quality of risk factors used for VaR computationSupport the Group’s annual Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (‘ICAAP’) Automated Trading workstreamSkills And Experiencea. Key stakeholdersInternalFirst Line stakeholders including CEO, BOD, MD, Business and Product HeadsOperations and technology partners / vendorsModel OwnerModel DevelopersGroup Internal AuditGroup Operational RiskGroup ComplianceRisk Reporting TeamExternalKey regulators in the region: The Group’s external auditorsRequirements & QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Financial Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.Experience: 8 to 12+ years of risk management experience within an international commodity trading firm, investment bank, producer, or major energy/metals corporation.Deep understanding of physical and derivative commodity markets, including freight and shipping mechanics.In-depth mastery of VaR methodology, risk sensitivities, and stress-testing frameworks.Strong working knowledge of Credit Risk assessment in commodity markets.Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite and VBA for financial modeling and automation.Practical experience working with Front Office trading systems (CTRM/ETRM) and database structures.Strong preference for programming and data analytics tools: Python, SQL, Tableau, or MATLAB.High level of ownership, strong project management capabilities, excellent stakeholder management, and analytical problem-solving skills.
