Rather than replacing operators, the autonomy stack helps them work more efficiently, safely and at greater scale. This is an opportunity to own meaningful robotics problems from concept through deployment. Rather than working on isolated research projects or a small piece of a much larger organisation, you'll help shape the localization, mapping and state estimation systems that sit at the heart of the product. The team is small, highly technical and moving quickly, giving you the chance to influence technical decisions, tackle genuinely difficult real-world challenges, and see your work deployed in the field. This isn't a computer vision role. This is for an engineer who has owned localization, mapping, SLAM or state estimation systems and wants to apply them to real-world robotics problems at scale. You'll join a small team working on:✅ LiDAR SLAM in GPS-degraded environments✅ Localization and state estimation✅ Multi-sensor fusion (LiDAR, cameras, IMU, GNSS)✅ Automated intrinsic and extrinsic sensor calibration✅ Point cloud registration, alignment and mapping✅ Multi-session map stitching and large-scale scene reconstruction✅ Production robotics systems operating across diverse outdoor conditionsWe're particularly interested in engineers who have:
- Built and deployed SLAM systems
- Deep experience in localization, mapping or state estimation
- LiDAR-based perception and point cloud processing expertise
- Sensor fusion experience across multiple modalities
- Strong C++ and Python skills
- Experience shipping robotics systems into production
- 5+ years in robotics, autonomy, localization, mapping or perceptionExperience must come from robots operating in unstructured outdoor environments. Experience limited to warehouse AMRs or structured indoor robotics is unlikely to be sufficient.Especially relevant backgrounds include:
- Autonomous Vehicles
- Robotics & Autonomy
- Localization & Navigation
- Mapping & Reconstruction
- Field Robotics
- Mobile Robotics
- Drone Autonomy
- Rail, Mining, Construction or Infrastructure Inspection Robotics
- Sensor Fusion & EstimationIf you've worked on localization, mapping, SLAM, calibration or state estimation systems in the real world, I'd love to speak with you.
