Senior Robotics Software Engineer | Bay Area, CA (onsite / hybrid)Most robotics jobs are 20% robotics. You inherit a codebase, you maintain a node someone else wrote, and you spend your week in review cycles for a feature that ships in Q3.This isn't that. You'll be given a hard problem, real hardware, and the authority to decide how it gets solved. Modern C++, ROS2, and a team small enough that your architecture decisions actually stick.What you'll be doingDesigning and building production robotics software in modern C++ (17/20) and PythonWorking across the stack in ROS2: perception, planning, controls, and the plumbing that ties them togetherTaking features from spec to deployed and validated on real hardware, including the debugging at 11pm in the labSetting the technical bar for how the team builds: architecture, code review, testing on real robotsWorking directly with mechanical, electrical and firmware engineers rather than through a ticket queueWhat we're looking for5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with the majority of it in robotics or autonomyStrong modern C++. You should be comfortable talking about why you made a design choice, not just that it worksSolid Python for tooling, simulation and analysisReal production ROS2 experience, not a university project or a ROS1 port you inheritedEvidence you've owned something end to end and shipped it onto physical hardwareComfortable with ambiguity and with being the person who decidesNice to haveReal-time systems, sensor fusion, SLAM, motion planning or controls depthExperience taking a robot from prototype to fleet deploymentLinux systems, CI for robotics, hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructureWhy this one is worth a conversationSmall, senior engineering team.
