If so, we want you on the Imbed Biosciences team!Description:We are looking for a highly motivated Research Scientist with a strong background in the development of biomaterials for drug delivery and tissue engineering. Research scientist will employ principles of materials science, cell culture, microbiology and toxicology in the development of bioresorbable wound dressings impregnated with medicinal substances. Primary duties will be to conduct research on the characterization of biomaterials in a range of in-vitro assays and in-vivo small animal studies, manage biocompatibility studies, write research reports for publications, and ensure timely completion of projects. Roles and responsibilities:Design, plan and perform scientific experiments on assembly, characterization and performance of polymeric films impregnated with medicinal substancesDesign and plan in-vitro antimicrobial tests against a broad spectrum of microbial strainsDesign and plan in-vivo testing in murine and porcine wound healing modelsDesign and plan biocompatibility tests in different animal models following ISO 10993 guidelinesEvaluate combination of new polymers, biomaterials and medicinal substancesIdentify and solve analytical problems in translational researchOrganize and write scientific research proposals for federal grantsWrite and maintain standard operating procedures and work instructions to support Commercial Product DevelopmentSupervise research assistants, interpret and analyze data, write reports and present resultsExcel in a high-energy team environment and be capable of making sound decisions when faced with the time pressures and incomplete information typical of research and developmentSome travel requiredMinimum qualification and experience:Education/Experience: A PhD or postdoc in biomaterials research, with 1-3 years work experience in academia, medical device, or pharmaceutical industryExperience with research in small animal studies specifically with murine or porcine modelsPractical or theoretical knowledge of various cell-culture based assays, cytotoxicity assays, biocompatibility testing, fluorescent microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and UV-vis spectroscopyProven track record of innovative project contributions through publications and patentsExperience in writing research proposals for federal grantsAbility to work independently and in multidisciplinary teamsDemonstrated experience in addressing complex scientific problemsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsPreferred experience:Experience in research on wound healing, skin diseases, burns, biofilms, antimicrobials and anti-inflammatory agentsExperience in regulatory affairsExperience in medical writing, clinical protocols or regulatory filingsExperience in project managementExperience with product development under a quality management system
